Y'ALL!! I've been busy for six weeks straight. I'll post pictures soon. Hint: my baby has graduated which came with LOTS of extra events (prom, graduation, a surprise party, a trip to Gatlinburg, her final ballet performance, water wars, and many church and praise band activities)!

Let's talk about building credit for your children....

I am frequently asked about how to building credit for students and young adults. Many 18-22 year olds are trying to establish responsible credit, and they aren't able to do so. Here's why! You've waited too long....

If you properly steward your finances and ALWAYS pay your bills every single month, when your child turns 13-years-old, add them as an authorized user. I cannot stress the importance!

You do not have to give them access to that card, but you will want to swipe their card every once in a while (or give it to them on a special occasion, like a trip to Dollywood...that's what I did 😁)!

I added our baby child when she was 13, and the day she turned 18, and we were able to check her credit report, she had a very healthy score, along with six years of established credit.

Hi friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything related to TRAVEL!!! I have a good reason though…I promise! When we started traveling ON POINTS, I was “testing” everything. Is this for real? What if I get charged later, after we’ve taken a trip? What if accommodations are sub-par? Is it all too good to be true? Etc, etc, etc… The LAST thing I wanted was to go into debt and make a mess of our finances.

After six years, I’m feeling pretty confident about using ALL the points to travel. We started out small. Well, sorta. OK, not so small. We actually started with two full weeks in Hawaii - I was a nervous wreck that something was going to unravel. Surely six people can’t REALLY go to Hawaii on POINTS! But we did. Then we started exploring all over the US - Riverwalk in Texas, the Grand Canyon and Sedona in Arizona, skiing in Colorado, Disney World in Florida, Washington DC, to visit monuments, a second two-week trip to Hawaii, San Diego, California, and eventually, Costa Rica, and Jamaica.

We were able to take A LOT of smaller trips around our great country (and still have so many more planned). That’s the great thing about points. You get to choose when to use them, and how. The more you earn, the more opportunities you have. We haven’t been traveling as much because we’ve been saving ALL the points for one epic, gigantic, wonderful two-week vacation to GERMANY!

I am a total wimp when it comes to cold! Thankfully, my family stretched me. I can say that WINTER sports are in my future! Bring on the cold!

Right now, through February 4th, you can get a $200 Mastercard Gift Card with NO activation fee, at Staples. Actually, you can get up to eight!!

If you have the CHASE Ink Cash business card, which gives 5x points at all office supply stores, you'll come away with 1,000 points and can use the $200 gift card anyplace that doesn't have a bonus category!!

If someone really bought eight $200 cards, that would be 8,000 points!!

This isn't necessarily a recommendation, but just sharing how quickly points can accumulate! 👏🏻

The question that I am asked the most is:

"How do you accumulate so many points without spending TONS of money?"

And here’s the answer:

"Strategically leveraging the cards that I have."

Here's an Example:

This week, at my local Publix (a brand new, FABULOUS, and very close grocery store), they are running a special where if you buy a $50 gas card, they will automatically take $10 off. So, right from the start, we’re getting a 20% discount on gas.

Now, the quarterly bonus on the the CHASE Freedom and Freedom Flex cards includes 5x points per $1 on all grocery stores, Target stores, and Fitness Clubs/Gym Memberships.

So, I bought $200 worth of groceries, a $50 gas gift card (that was reduced by $10) and I received 1,250 points. (1,000 points for groceries, and 250 for gas)

Now let’s put that into perspective….

We can stay at some Hyatt Place hotels around the country for 3,500 points. So for my one grocery store trip, I’m almost half way there to a free night with Hyatt.

AND, although gas is NOT one of the categories for this quarter, I’m still getting 5x points per $1 and 20% off!!!

Could this be any more fun?!?!?!?!?!? 👏🏻
