Have you ever wanted to know more about where you live? What did it look like hundreds (or even thousands) of years ago? Who lived there? Do they still? National Endowment for the Arts Artist-in-Residence Jeremy Dennis created an interactive map of Long Island to answer those questions and to create awareness of sacred, culturally significant Native American sites. The map can be found in our outer lobby but is also accessible here: https://bit.ly/jeremydennismap

Opportunity is knocking! Today we have an opportunity to start the process to protect more vibrant natural landscapes and water resources and create communities that are resilient to climate change. The New York State Assembly is negotiating the 2022 budget today with an April 1st deadline. Both the Governor’s and Senate’s budget proposals include the $3 Billion Clean Water and Jobs Bond Act. The Bond Act is a green recovery proposal, focusing on funding critical green infrastructure and environmental restoration projects while creating new jobs to address them.

We need the Assembly to include it in their budget too! Please reach out to your NYS Assembly Member TODAY by phone or email and ask them to:

Please include the $3 billion Clean Water and Jobs Bond Act in your 2022 budget proposal so we may have a chance to vote to protect the environmental quality of our community.
