Hey Travelers! Micheal and Alon here at Alibi's Travels, just popping in to give a quick update on some things regarding the travel industry and helpful tips for combatting this nasty case of COVID-19.
Firstly we would like to apologize for "ghosting" y'all during this time but boy have we had a full 2020 thus far. We sold our house in February and have been mad dashing like crazies trying to get our house packed up and preparing for our move to Tampa, FL. But we felt we owed it to our customers and loyal followers to share a few things with you.
Now time to get down to brass tacks......the cruise industry (long dramatic sigh) has recently shut down (some lines for a couple of weeks, some for a few months more in depth details will follow in the coming hours/day once we have a complete list compiled). The airline industry has taken a slight hit but as of 2:30 am March 18, 2020 flights are still coming and going as normal with far fewer passengers than what is normal. There are a few theme parks that have closed or delayed opening as well (look for that complete list in the coming hours/days).
Now as for the current medical crisis (if it can even be classified as that) regarding COVID-19 the best way to combat it is isolation/self quarantine (while I know that is not ideal for most of us that still have daily jobs to get to) that is what is best to stop or slow spread of it.
Now for helpful tips to make sure you can get through this with confidence and safety.
- This is the perfect time to be mindful and helpful for your neighbors who may be elderly or more susceptible to getting the virus and have a harder time fighting it at home through self quarantine (those with diabetes, heart disease, lung issues, cancer, etc). So when you make a trip to the store, and if items are available please pick some up for them or even ask if they need anything while you are making a trip
- DON'T panic buy/bulk buy/hoard things. It is one thing to buy a 24 pack of toilet paper and split it up amongst yourself and neighbors or family members but it is totally different to buy seven 24 packs of toilet paper to price gouge or not share. Love one another and be kind
- Be resourceful, think outside of the box. There are several ways to solve a problem or overcome a hurdle that may be in your way. You can use everything from napkins to paper towels and yes even just a spray bottle with warm water and a few drops of body wash to clean yourself after a trip to the bathroom.
- If the store doesn't have it make it yourself (you can make several things and substitute many things if a store doesnt have what you need such as baby wipes, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, etc)
- Wash your hands regularly, wear gloves when possible, avoid hand shakes and getting in other peoples "bubbles". Maintain 4-6 feet of distance from others.
Last tip (I know, long post sorry) ......plan ahead, order online for store pickup where available. We were recently able to order bottles of water from our local foodlion and pick it up before they sold out. Our local walmart is also showing toilet paper and paper towels available for store pickup as well. Check with membership clubs also for availability and possible shipping (if you don't have a membership reach out to your friends, someone you know is sure to have one). We here at Alibi's Travels has a membership to Bj's, Sam's Club as well as Costco so if you are local and needing supplies we can meet you at any of these to help you find what you need (we will be happy to help in any way we can, even if it is just letting you shop with us via our membership).
We must come together and think of one another and yes, even love one another durong this time. Stay safe, stay hopeful and remember this is not the end of the cruising or travel industry.
