For over 13 years, I have listened to my father-in-law, Terry ‘T’ Sveine, on the phone, answering questions about New Ulm's history or speaking with someone planning a visit to New Ulm…And when I reached a point in my career where I was looking for more and wanted to incorporate my love for event planning, an idea struck me. That’s how Teutonic Tales & Trails was born, and I knew it could succeed
because I had that special ingredient to make it exceptional - T. When I first met T, he was the Tourism Manager at New Ulm’s Chamber of Commerce. Since then, I've had the pleasure of watching him deliver numerous history talks, including presentations on New Ulm’s grocery store history and its transportation history. T has also authored a book about a key figure in the formation of New Ulm in the 1800s, served as Mayor of his beloved city, and was honored as the 2024 Tourism Person of the Year (just to name a few). He has always been passionate about the town where he was born and raised. Ask any local who to talk to about New Ulm, and they’ll say, “Talk to T!” He’s conducted hundreds of city tours, written many historical publications, and is affectionately known as Mr. New Ulm (and I regularly hear people still calling him Mayor). Beyond my historian father-in-law I also sparked my event planning passion and ideas kept flooding my brain - Girls’ Day Tours, Pub Crawls, Cemetery Tours, Woman-Owned Business Tours, Scavenger Hunts, and more! I am passionate about sharing the rich history and unique charm of New Ulm through engaging and memorable experiences. Whether you're a local or just visiting, I invite you to join us on a journey through the stories and sights that make our town special. Let's explore New Ulm together!
