6 Reasons to Stay at Eagle View Camp
Having stayed at Eagle View Camp numerous times, I can confidently say it's a great camp, and with its recent renovations, it's even better. Here are six compelling reasons to choose Eagle View Camp for your next safari:

1. PRIME LOCATION
Saruni Eagle View is nestled in Mara Naboisho Conservancy, surrounded by 50,000 acres of pristine, untouched wilderness. This prime location offers a truly immersive safari experience.

2. EXCEPTIONAL VIEWS
Perched on the edge of a hill, the camp provides incredible views stretching as far as the eye can see. At the base of the hill is a waterhole frequented by a variety of animals, offering excellent wildlife viewing from the comfort of the camp.

3. EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCES
Enjoy exclusive wildlife viewing on game drives with only a limited number of vehicles allowed in the conservancy at any given time. The Conservancy is rich in wildlife, especially big cats. Experience night game drives with a chance to see nocturnal animals, walking safaris, and mobile camping adventures.

4. INNOVATIVE ARCHITECTURE
The structures at Saruni Eagle View blend contemporary, minimalist design with traditional safari style, ensuring they do not impact your view or connection to the surrounding wilderness. The camp seamlessly integrates into the landscape while providing all the creature comforts you need.

5. POSITIVE IMPACTS
Eagle View Camp provides year-round support to over 500 Maasai families in the area through land lease fees, employment opportunities, and sustainability projects. These efforts significantly improve the quality of life for many Mara Naboisho community members.

6. PRESERVING A KEY ECOSYSTEM
Tourism directly supports conservation through daily 'park' fees. This revenue is the main source of income for the community, used to run the conservancy and provide support in areas like health and education. It also incentivizes keeping community land undeveloped, ensuring wildlife can traverse freely and safely.

Quite a surreal moment, watching elephants as they rest the younger ones lying down to sleep, while the adults stay still almost seemed like they were in a trans-state.

What does ‘Hippopotamus’ mean?
The name hippopotamus comes from ancient Greek to mean “river horse”. Maybe it's due to how they walk on the river bed, which resembles racing horses.

Not an animal commonly found in most safari destinations, encountering African wild dogs is a unique and exciting experience. These apex predators, known for their intricate social structure and cooperative behavior, live in packs led by a dominant breeding pair—the alpha male and alpha female. The rest of the pack members act as subordinates, showcasing a remarkable level of care and solidarity by looking after sick and older members.

Listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List, the African wild dog population is estimated to consist of only around 6,600 adults. Spotting them in the wild is a privilege and highlights the importance of conservation efforts to protect these remarkabl

Located at the very heart of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Lewa House is set on top of a hill with extensive views over gentle rolling hills with Mount Kenya to the south and the rugged Mathews Range and the sacred mountain of Ol Olokwe to the north.

Home to Sophie and Calum Macfarlane together with their small family, Lewa House is owner-operated and hosted and with only ten rooms, offering a small and intimate option for the experienced safari connoisseur or first time safari goer on Lewa.

Established as a cattle ranch in 1922 - Lewa has always been managed with wildlife as a top priority. In 1995 the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (a non-profit organisation) was formed and in 2013 the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today there is minimal livestock on Lewa and the main focus of the conservancy is wildlife conservation together with community outreach programmes and development. Host to over 14% of Kenya’s Black Rhino population and over 12% of the global population of Grevy’s zebra, Lewa is one of the best places in the country to see both of these iconic animals. Wildlife abounds, with all of the Big Five and herbivores associated with the north of Kenya.

Pelicans in Nyerere National Park, formerly the Selous Game Reserve, Africa’s largest stand-alone national park in southern Tanzania. This UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts a large and diverse concentration of wildlife, including hippos, elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, zebras, giraffes, lions, and endangered African wild dogs. A birder's paradise with around 450 bird species recorded. Off the tourist circuit, you may not see another tourist vehicle on your game drives. Still a pristine wilderness, it's a great place for both first-time and experienced safari-goers looking for a unique experience.
