Donald Judd’s House, Becoming a Museum

For the past two months I haven't made any work, but I have been working, just in a different way. If you know me personally then you are aware of my passion and intense interest in the preservation of New York City's architecture and cultural history. Since January I have been immersed in the life of Donal Judd: his work, his writings, the personal recollections of his closest friends and colleagues, the objects he valued in his life, his impact on and contributions to the evolution of art and the communities of New York City and Marfa, Tx. Why? Because 101 Spring Street, Judd's home and studio will open to the public this spring and, I along with a wonderful group of artists, will be Artist Guides for those who would like to visit Judd's home and learn more about his life in SoHo. It's been a very exciting journey and I can't wait for everyone to see this very private and personal look into history.

The SoHo house that the sculptor Donald Judd built — or at least restored — is becoming a museum of his works, and an entry point to his life.

I've always been fascinated by the relics left behind when a house is torn down. Even in its demolition, a house is too stubborn to let its existence be completely eliminated from the world. Instead it holds on, clinging to the building next door. It makes me wonder if the two somehow grew together over the years; friends that refuse to let go of one another, eventually infusing themselves as one.

Drew Conrad’s Newest Installation, ‘Ain’t Dead Yet,’ Depicts Decay of Time and Mortality

The best part about having friends that make amazing art is getting the chance to write about their work. I'm talking about you Drew Conrad. Check out my latest article on Drew Conrad's, Ain't Dead Yet currently on view at Fitzroy Gallery.

In Ain’t Dead Yet, artist Drew Conrad’s first New York solo exhibition (on display at Fitzroy Gallery), we, the viewer, experience the thrill of examining installations that recall once-known-but-lost-to-time architectural ruins.

Unmasked Modern Ball—The New York Academy of Art’s Annual Tribeca Ball To Showcase Student Artists

My latest article for Downtown Magazine on the upcoming Tribeca Ball at the New York Academy of Art.

At the New York Academy of Art's annual Tribeca Ball, climbing five flights of stairs in stilettos isn't an unexpected feat. Why? Because the Tribeca Ball cleverly merges high-end fashion and fine art, as guests dressed to the nines make their way through the linseed oil-soaked studios of current MF...
