Congratulations to playwright Philip Kaplan, whose short play, "Strays," is being produced as part of T. Schreiber Theatre's upcoming short play festival! http://tschreiber.org/shreibers-shorts/

"Strays" was written in less than 12 hours, and had its premiere this summer in Ft. Tryon Park, as part of Open Tent's Ourglass 2015: A Play-in-a-Day Festival. The performance starred Danny Hoffman and Brigid Warnke, and was directed by Chelsea Anderson-Long. Join us next summer for Ourglass 2016, and catch more new work before the general public!

There's still time to sign up for our OPEN AUDITIONS in Washington Heights this Sunday, November 16th! We have audition slots available between 4-5 pm and 6-8pm. We are looking to cast a range of actors in the eight original short plays selected for production in our Winter Shorts play festival. We're seeking actors of various ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities, and we hope that many of you will share your talents with us.

To sign up for an audition slot, email us at [email protected] with your availability during the audition hours.

Actors should bring a headshot and resume (if you have them), and a 1-2 minute monologue to perform (if you don't have a monologue, a song, comedy routine, or other performance piece will suffice). Actors may also be asked to read sides from the various selected short plays.

We hope to see you on November 16th!

Following the success of Ourglass 2014, Open Tent Theater Company is thrilled to announce our first original short play festival, to take place this winter! Our evening of original short plays will allow numerous members of our theater community to showcase their talents as playwrights, actors, and directors--and you could be among them!

We are currently seeking short play submissions. Whether you are a published playwright or just starting out, we want to see your work! We will select 6-8 plays from among the submissions to be produced and performed in New York City.

Submission guidelines:
-Original play scripts with a 10-20 minute running time
-Cast of 2-4 characters
-Minimal technical elements necessary
-Comedy preferred
-All plays must be submitted in standard play format.

Submission Deadline: September 30th, 2014
