Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting. A little bit about me, my name is Lenore, I'm an Occupational Therapist who LOVES to travel (seriously an understatement). I began working as a travel Occupational Therapist to have the freedom of work flexibility (not being tied down to a schedule and/or place), as well as traveling across the globe in my spare time. For pictures of my travels, check them out here.
First I'll explain what an Occupational Therapist is. An OT is a healthcare provider who provides treatment to individuals of all ages utilizing activities of daily living (Occupations). We help people while encompassing the things they want, need, and love to do!
A travel Occupational Therapist simply is an OT that fills a need in a healthcare facility across the US (sometimes even other countries). Some of the examples of why a travel OT is needed is due to a staffing shortage, or maternity leave. These short term contract assignments are usually 13 weeks, but can be shorter or longer depending on the need. I primarily work in the Adult/Geriatric setting, and when I'm not on a travel assignment, I work per-diem.
What Can You Learn From My Site?
I will be educating and sharing my favorite travel destinations with helpful information about where to eat, what to see, and do (check out my first travel itinerary here). I'll also include travel deals, hacks, lifestyle, inspiration, clothing, some of my favorite resources, and of course sharing some of the crazy stories/situations I've encountered.
Lastly, Who Am I?
In a nutshell, my background is Jamaican/American, I love music and cats. You can catch me rocking my natural hair majority of the time. I'm introverted, cultured, and a self-proclaimed foodie whose originally from Queens, NY.
If you're wondering why did I became an Occupational Therapist here's my reason: My niece was born premature and required services. I didn't know much about the profession until then, and my niece's situation further prompted my interest. It also facilitated my growing passion into joining the healthcare field.
