Huge Stripers are around now. As the water temperaters drop, the bigger fish are starting to show in the usual spots. It's far from "Lock & Load" but we are getting the job done. We had fish well in the fifty pound class last week.
I brought up the "Finders Fee" from Montauk to use while the Katfish is down with engine issues, It a 47 foot Tiara with all the comforts of home. Come check it out.

Thank you Bob for use of the "Finders Fee". The last few weeks have been extraordinary. Now it's back to my little Katfish. Looking forward to our trips to Martha's Vineland and Nantucket next month. She will be back at Atlantis in November and then we are off to Virginia for some more bass fishing. After that we leave for Morehead City for Tuna. The boat will winter there and return once again next Spring.

Thanks to all who have sailed with me this Spring.

Last charter on "Finders Fee". She's off to Martha's Vineland but she will return in November. I'm off to Hilton Head for my son's wedding and will be back late next week. It will be business as usual on the Katfish.

Lots of big fish today, no keepers. Pizza again for dinner. We had 35 fish this week and only 2 keepers. Come on, give us a break.

The new regulations suck. I believe it should be 1 fish per person no matter the size (over 28"). We spend too much time handling and measuring striped bass. That can't be good for their health. Believe me, 1 inch over 31" and you get a ticket and must appear in Criminal Court. Big fine and a day wasted. Plus parking & tolls.

Captain Vinny Vetere’s fifty years of Striped Bass fishing in New York Bight Area guarantees your trip will be one of the most memorable you'll ever have. When he was 11 years old he started working in Sheepshead Bay aboard the Amberjack III as a deckhand puller. Within a few years he worked his way up to first mate. At the age of 16 he owned his first boat which he used every evening after the big boat came in. Prior to 1984 Capt Vinny worked as a commercial Striped Bass fisherman. It was with this fish money he paid his way thru 6 years of college. There were many days when he & his partner Nick would deliver more than 1000lbs of bass to the Fulton Fish Market. After owning 11 new boats over 35 years he teamed with True World Marine in New Jersey to design the perfect fishing/charter boat. He was at the factory everyday to guide & help build the Katfish. There is truly no other boat like her. The knowledge developed from a lifetime of fishing and working on party boats is combined to insure your fishing success. A NYC teacher by training (now retired), Captain Vetere’s reputation as a charter captain and industry leader are well known and highly respected.
