The best part of producing exceptional events like the Empire State Marathon & Half? Finding stories like 77-year-old Jim Sheehy's:
"I suffer from stenosis, scoliosis, arthritis and ruptured discs and can’t walk more than about 50 yards without my walker. I started walking 34 miles daily with the walker as exercise to mitigate the pain. I decided to walk a marathon to celebrate my 75th birthday and completed my first, the Orange County, Marathon May of 2016 and have since completed two more marathons with a best time of 6:23:34.
I am a native Upstate New Yorker raised in Windsor. I return to the area every year for a HS reunion (WCHS, 1959) and decided to try a marathon back in the home state. My current training regimen promises an under six hour marathon this year."
