Introducing the newest in our girl gang
✨Penelope Grace Charlotte Woerz✨
She came like a force at 36 weeks and 6 days knowing that she was going to get evicted soon anyway. After having a rough and painful day Wednesday, I went to bed and almost immediately started having contractions. Around 2am we decided that this may possibly be the real thing and we alerted the troops. At 2:30, we woke up Evie and she came into the bathroom, where I was laboring in the bath, and helped me watercolor some intentions and affirmations for the birth. Having her by my side experiencing these moments is something I will never forget. She is such a precious soul and I’m so glad we could include her in this way. I labored at home with the support of my amazing doula for about an hour and then left for the hospital around 4am. This time around I was very calm and very ready. I walked through the halls of the hospital to L&D declining every offer for a wheelchair. And from triage I walked all the way to my room to the sounds of the nurses cheering me on! I finally got my light epidural around 5:30am and then the waiting game began. Danielle and Tom hung up the affirmations Eve and I had made, strung up the twinkle lights, and turned on the diffuser. It was such a beautiful place to welcome our baby girl. As I felt my body getting ready to push, I decided to just breathe through every contraction and wait until the last minute to call in the L&D team. After about 30min, we decided it was time and a million people flooded the room to get ready for my “8.5lb baby” with “possible shoulder dystocia”. Two pushes later and she was born en caul, like a true mermaid. I have long been in awe of women who get to experience a mermaid birth, and now I got my own! This birth was everything I could have asked for and more. It came at the perfect time, there were zero complications, and I felt completely in control the entire time. I could not have asked for a more magical experience. Thank you sweet Poppy for being the happiest ending to our girl gang, and the most redemptive, healing birth. We love you already sweet girl ❤️
Ps. Swipe to the end to see the girls meet baby sis!
