Just some of the things found in one afternoon of brush clearing on my old farm. Old bottles and other glass bits tucked into the old stone walls, metal odds and ends just kind of lying on the dirt, a couple of snail shells (vacant), shards of ceramics and stoneware.

It's really exciting to me every time I find something new. I wish I had a time machine!!! It would be so cool to know what daily life was like on this old farm - what animals were here, what farm operations were, where old buildings were, how the house was used. Well, until the robots create a time machine, I guess I'll just have to daydream about it.

Billy Flint delivering mail to the campers. I can just see her doing her daily drive to the PO and hand out letters to the campers. Same today, as Hobby Hill is still too remote to get mail delivery.

Some of the things I love about this photo are the girls' outfits (I'm talking to you, feathered Robin Hood cap), the big old maple that used to be in front of the house (hit by lightning in the 1980s), the different iteration of the Hobby Hill logo (still a horse, but more of a stick figure).

Thanks to Seena Rasmussen Drapala who made postcards of some of the old photos in her collection and at the Windham County Historical Society. This one was part of a promotional photo shoot for the Camp and was taken sometime in the 1940s (I think). Maybe a "woody" enthusiast can date the car? I've heard from the son of a local man who helped caretake the property that everybody loved that car!

Visitors at the tour today and the fragrant saffron honey cake they enjoyed (saffron, honey and eggs from the farm). Two guests had never tasted saffron before. They liked it!

I'm serving this delicate Scandinavian cake to all Open Farm guests this week. All events are free and will happen rain or shine!

Here's another shot from Camp Hobby Hill days outside the Stone Cottage. Billie used to have each girl over for afternoon tea once per summer.

This is 1942 or later, the year the cottage was built by hand with no electricity.

Thanks to for getting these photos and making them into postcards!
