France inspiration weeks continue from the mountaintop village of Eze, halfway between Nice and Monte Carlo. The Mediterranean views are incredible from the top of this extremely well-preserved medieval town. Make sure you climb to the exotic garden at the very very top - and then LOOK DOWN! Eze is well worth a half-day trip out of Nice or Monte Carlo. At French's Travel, we'd love to plan a trip to the French Riviera for you and your family - tres magnifique!!

France inspiration weeks continue from the amazing city of Nice on the French Riviera. What could be better than a city that has been both part of Italy and part of France in its long history. Come for the beaches - but stay for the food! Nice has a direct flight from JFK and is a great jumping off point for other French Riviera cities and towns easily reachable by train. Mont-Saint-Michel, Normandy, France⁠
France inspiration weeks continue today from the medieval Christian Pilgrimage site of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy. Surrounded by a bay shared by the Normandy and Brittany regions, the tides can vary by as much as 46 feet between high tide and low tide. One of the most visited sites in France (three million visitors a year), it's absolutely breathtaking and we at French's Travel recommend it on any France itinerary whether you go on a tour or travel on your own.

France inspiration weeks continue from Giverny where Claude Monet bought and transformed a house and property in 1883 into a floral masterpiece that became the inspiration for some of his greatest works. Just an hour and a half from Paris and open April 1 through November 1 and visited by 500,000 people each year, this is a wonderful day trip as part of a Paris vacation, or a great stop on a drive up to the Normandy Coast. Portugal inspiration weeks continue from the stunningly beautiful Douro River Valley. Just 60 miles inland from Porto, the river winds through terraced vineyards on steep hills and produces the grapes that make port wine - still largely picked by hand and crushed by foot. Spend the day visiting a few lovely little Quintas (wineries) and take a cruise on the river - all an easy day trip out of Porto. A look at a Rabelo boat with the beautiful city of Porto behind it. Rabelos are the Viking-inspired boats that carry the barrels of Port Wine from the upper Douro River region to Vila Nova de Gaia which sits directly across the river from Porto. Once the barrels arrive in "Gaia" as it is more familiarly called, they sit in wine cellars of all the major Port Wine companies like Sandeman, Taylor's, Graham, etc. There are 10 port houses that offer tours and tastings at their cellars and some have lovely restaurants as well. At French's Travel, we would encourage anyone traveling to Portugal not to miss Porto - an amazing city that is very compact and easy to see in a couple of days.

Peña Palace, Sintra, Portugal⁠
Portugal inspiration weeks continue today from the fairytale Peña Palace in the beautiful mountain town of Sintra - less than an hour drive from Lisbon. The current palace was built in 1840 over a 16th century monastery, has been a Portuguese National Monument since 1910, and is considered the finest example of European Romanticism. After walking around this beautiful city, you will feel every one of those hills in your calves, but you'll be rewarded with marvelous viewpoints over the entire city.
