As summer winds down, here's a reminder that our park's operating hours are changing.

Starting today through Oct. 6, Grandfather Mountain will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with last entry at 4:30 p.m. and trails closing at 5 p.m.).

Deer are unpredictable and can quickly run, jump, or change course. Watch for wildlife while driving on the Parkway.

Wildlife, wildflowers, bicyclists, and extraordinary views… all contribute to the parkway experience, and every visitor should be aware of these while enjoying the drive. Take advantage of the more than 250 overlooks along the route to safely enjoy the views.

Building this scenic route was a feat unlike any seen at the time, and now the responsibility to maintain this historic, scenic route is equally complex.

Multiple ongoing road and bridge maintenance projects are happening across the Parkway this summer. We are fortunate to have landmark funding investments at work right now to ensure visitors can enjoy the Parkway for generations to come.

Visitors should plan ahead for their trips on the Parkway and check road status information updated daily on the Parkway's website.
