Sunny Day Whales

Last sunny day last weekend, been foggy and cold for 3 days now. But whales are still abundant if you know where to look!

Gray Whale Play

An unknown gray whale decide to breach a few feet from the boat, get everyone wet and then play with us. We did not get the breach on film as it was totally unexpected. We were actually looking at another whale near by. Whale watch of the year so far!

Breaching whale Depoe Bay, Oregon

This whale breached within 25 ft of the boat. This breach happened 50 ft away after I got my camera out AND changed my pants!!!

even the USCG can have a bad day, Depoe Bay is a very tricky entrance. Some people complain when we cancel trips,,,think again!

Orca attack gray whale

Mugged by a gray whale,,

We were watching 5 gray whales feeding south of Gull Rock on saturday afternoon and got mugged by one,,was quite friendly and came right up to us.

Had some squid inshore, did not have my long pole for underwater filming so leaned over the side and hand filled them, 48 degree water. Gray whales doing the mating thing and Orcas all in the same trip.
