ANNOUNCEMENT: Veer Music Awards Moves To Virginia Beach for 2025

The Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development will present the 2025 Veer Music Awards at Elevation 27 on Sunday, February 2 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. FREE admission to ALL.

The Veer Music Awards — often compared as a local version of The Grammys — recognizes the annual achievements of recording artists from the 757 region in a diverse range of some 30+ categories including Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Song of the Year to specific genres including Country, Hip Hop, Jazz, R&B, Metal, Blues, Folk, Punk, Pop, Rock, and Electronic to Best Open Mic, tribute Band, and Best Bar Venue.

“Over the last three years, we have appreciated the hospitality of Randy Thomas and his staff at The Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery in hosting the Veer Music Awards presentation in Hampton,” said Veer Magazine publisher Jeff Maisey. “In the process, I believe we turned a lot of folks from the Southside of the region on to what is a really unique venue. Prior to The Vanguard, the awards show was a moveable feast where we held the ceremony at The Naro, Attucks Theatre, The NorVa, Granby Theater, and The Waterside District.

“Holding the Awards at Elevation 27,” Maisey continued, “marks our first such event in Virginia Beach, a culturally vibrant city with its own rich connection to live music as experienced in venues such as the Jewish Mother, The Abyss, The Bayou, Route 44, The Wave, Sandler Center, Virginia Beach Amphitheater, and Virginia Beach Dome.”

Speaking of the Dome, the musical theme for the 2025 awards presentation will be “A Tribute to The Dome” featuring songs from bands that played the legendary oceanfront venue such as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Ray Charles, Black Sabbath, The Who, Super Tramp, Psychedelic Furs, Four Tops, Blondie, The Animals, Procol Harum, The Byrds, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Zappa, Alice Cooper, The Guess Who, The Monkees, Grateful Dead, Mott The Hoople, Beach Boys, and others.

AFTER PARTY: Immediately following the 2025 Veer Music Awards program will be an Open Jam Session featuring the finest musicians in Hampton Roads on stage together.

“Presenting the Veer Music Awards requires support from our likeminded partners and we’re delighted to work once again with Chuck Rigney, Virginia Beach’s new director of economic development and a passionate champion of cultural events for the enrichment of the community. We are also looking forward to showing off Elevation 27’s performance space and making use of its electrifying video wall. Attendees will experience our full-on multi-media show. We thank Judd Mendelson and Bill Reid for their enthusiasm by allowing their venue to host us. ”

Side note: The original Dome-site will open in the Spring of 2025 as Atlantic Park.
