Even fall is beautiful around here! This summer saw the addition of this wonderful bridge over Orchard Beach creek. The I-beams used were salvaged from the old boat lifts on the beach and repurposed. The bridge was constructed by our handy neighbors and came out amazing. It was then christened as “Waterfall Bridge”. Pics 2 & 3 are what I believe to be the same waterfall on a postcard from 1905.

One thing we never get sick of this time of year is outside living. The Little Shovel has plenty of spots to either sit and chat, read a book, enjoy a cup of Joe, chomp a meal, or just vege out. Pic 1 is out front facing the community park which goes down to the neighborhood beaches, pic 2 is our side deck with dinner table & grill, pic 3 is our 2nd floor rear private deck off the master bedroom. Good stuff!

Our 4 kayaks are prepped and by the water for our guests this summer. We have two youth and 2x tandem 11 foot kayaks for maximum summer fun.

One of the many perks of staying at the Little Shovel is that we offer 4 separate bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 8. Many of our guests have been multi-families & large groups. All of our mattresses & pillows are brand new & each room features freshly installed ceiling fans. Three bedrooms are on the first floor and one on the second floor. The 2nd floor master bedroom features an ensuite bathroom, walk out private rear deck, & a 55” smart tv. There are 5 beds in total: two king beds, one full, and two singles. Thanx for looking!

The refinished table top is back in the cottage! We procured this super heavy, solid wood table for only $20. With a little elbow grease we sanded, stained, and polyurethaned it with supplies I had at home. There was some real wear and tear on it and storage damage but I think we got it rather cleaned up. We’re really happy with the way it turned out.

In between quests I’m giving this solid wood dining table a makeover. I love gray stains but they dry quick! Tonight I’ll get some poly coats on there and call it a day.

Happy Halloween! We recently took a stroll / bike ride around Eaton Reservoir to check out the fall colors. Only 9 miles drive from the cottage and a nice flat path for a 3 mile loop around.
