Not sure that we have ever touched on the subject of movies in a post, but anyone who grew up with 1980’s action movies or appreciates bizarre weapons will enjoy this. I introducing one of my sons to the most 80’s of all action movies, “Commando”, and he had questions about the crazy 4 barrel rocket launcher. My initial thought was that it was probably a make believe Hollywood weapon (because they do occasionally bend the truth) but I decided to see what I could find out. Sure enough, it actually did exist and it was meant to replace the flamethrower somehow. Now on to the subject of how to shoot 1000 rounds out of a 30 round mag like Arnold.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1985 action classic Commando cemented the former Mr. Olympia as a bona fide action hero.

Battle worn look with KG GunKote on a PTR 91. Silver with a layer of Deep Flat Black, a little scuffing, then some matte clear coat and KG GearKote in the receiver to keep it running smoothly. This look works great on classic battle rifle designs.

A well used FN PS90 that needed a refresh on the metal parts. I used DuraCoat DuraFil to smooth out a little pitting and the casting texture on the receiver, then coated everything with DuraCoat. This FN space gun should be ready for a lot more use for many years to come.

Using the Warlock Custom Black/Red color shifting pigments with KG GunKote and a base coat of KG Deep Flat Black makes for a really cool look. I always love how these pigments turn out. These pics are all of the same gun with different lighting. ****ms

If you are interested in trying out a tactical 2 gun match, this is a great introduction to the matches before showing up for the first competition. These matches are a lot of fun.

A couple of STI’s that had an update with KG GunKote. One was done with GunKote clear with Warlock Customs red/black color shift pigment, and the other one was cleaned up with some Nano deep flat black. The pigment turned out great with a little different look to the color from every angle.

Back from SHOT Show and my brain is worn out from trying to take everything in. Lots of new products. Some cool things from smaller companies that might become the next big players in the industry. First aid and medical products are becoming more popular, which is awesome. Got to meet some people who have done some amazing things. Also is anyone else concerned that Vegas is building the Death Star?

This pretty much wraps up how rediculous the new pistol arm brace rules are that suddenly make tens of millions of law abiding Americans felons based on having an item on their pistol that makes it less concealable … in the interest of fighting to keep guns less concealable … after a decade of the ATF saying braces were fine. 🤦🏼‍♂️

As we finish out 2022, I just want to say thank you to all of the customers and supporters of JG Coatings. I am grateful for everyone who believes in the work we do. As a small business, referrals, repeat customers, and word of mouth is vital. Hope everyone has a safe New Year and a great 2023.

Great weather today for the Gateway IDPA Classic at Benchrest Rifle Club in Wright City, MO. I managed to rack up way too many points but managed to finish 2nd place in ShArp Shooter CCP. Apparently I should have actually practiced with the gun since I haven’t shot my G***k 19 in competition in years. 🤷🏼 Also this was the first time our business has been a stage sponsor at a match which was pretty cool.

KG GunKote SOCOM Black Nano sure is a good look on an AK with wood furniture. The bolt carrier was also coated with KG GearKote to slick it up.

Depending on the light and angle, the color really shifts on this Green Goblin themed rifle done with KG GunKote and Pygmy Pigments. It has a little purple to it also but there are limits to what my iPhone camera can show 🙄. These pigments are also great for whatever else you might want to coat that needs a dramatic look.

This slide turned out great. The Pygmy Pigments are a lot of fun to play around with, especially the color changing ones. This is KG GunKote clear with the pigments mixed in on top of a deep flat black base coat.

For anyone saying “they aren’t trying to take people’s guns” this would take away a majority of the fi****ms now sold in the U.S. Not because they have some super special scary gun powers, but just because some politicians need a scapegoat for their ineptitude at actually impacting crime. First they made up the term “assault weapon” to make modern fi****ms scarier sounding after they failed at trying to ban guns by starting with handguns, then they tried to instituted an assault weapons ban in the 1990’s that accomplished nothing in the decade it existed, and now they are taking another run at it with a much broader bill that will make felons out of millions of law abiding Americans while doing nothing to impact criminals.
