Happy Equinox from the Long Beach Peninsula, WA!

Fall mushrooms are popping, the sea horizon is filled with millions of birds headed south, and there have been whales migrating too.

The shoreline of the beach here changes this time of year briefly too - there’s pools of water and banks of sands where they normally aren’t.

People are lining the beach watching the sun dip behind the wall of Pacific Ocean.

You too can still come and enjoy the magic that is the beach this time of year. 🌊 🍁 🍄 🦢

The cabin is going to be closed November for a bathroom remodel! The footprint will be enlarged, and new everything inside. ✨ 🚿 🚽 Stay tuned!

Also, the sauna is being repaired. 🔥 We were hoping it’d be back in order by now, but it’s been a slow process of ordering parts and trying to figure out where the problem lies. Hoping it’ll be back in order in a couple weeks. 🤞🏼

The week long kite festival is coming to a close this weekend. It’s a really interesting community of folk who are into kites - many of them design and sew their own. The shapes and uses for kites are numerous. I watched fighting kites one day, where the goal is to bring down another person’s kite or cut the string. I judged about 12 different categories of kites another day. On a third day, about 250 homemade kites were given away to kids, along with pointers on care and use. I missed out on the lighted kite event. I recommend checking it out when it rolls around again next year!

Bring your BFF (best furred friend) to the beach when you stay with us! We promise it’ll be their favorite vacation yet. 🐾 We charge a small pet fee for extra cleaning, but we have a fully fenced yard, and are just a few blocks from the beach. Plus my friendly dogs are willing to play in the backyard, if we decide that’d be fun for everyone.

Did you know Washington State was known as the 
“Chinook State” before becoming the “Evergreen State?” Just more documentation of our deep history on this land. 

We are the original people of this land. Our ancestors greeted Lewis & Clark and fed them . Our names are in the history books, but not on the list of federally recognized tribes in the U.S.

This must change. NOW.

The most active volcano in the Pacific Northwest is the Axial Seamount. It’s located 300 miles west of us and a mile under the ocean. It last blew in 2015 and looks like it’s gearing up for another one. But these eruptions don’t garner the same kind of fanfare as the above water volcanoes. 🌋 🌊 🐙

After relatively little change over the past five years, the Axial Seamount appears to be waking up. And now an Oregon scientist has issued a new prediction of when it will erupt next.

Happy Solstice y’all! My favorite time of the year, when the sun doesn’t go down until well past 9PM!

We spent the evening finishing gardening projects - there’s only a few things better than having my hands in the dirt - and the ocean is one of them. 🌱 🌊

Holidays open at the beach cabin! The 4th of July is crazy at the beach. Many of the larger cities have banned fireworks, driving people to other areas to get their fill of fireworks. 💥 The WA Coast still allows fireworks and many people flock here. Unfortunately, the trash from that one holiday is found for the rest of the year. Saturn missiles and other projectiles leave plastic bits all over.

Here, we have several beach clean up efforts that happen, and the largest collective one is the morning after the 4th. We encourage anyone who can to head to the beach 9AM-Noon to pick up garbage left behind. Dumpsters are situated at each approach, along with volunteers who hand out supplies to assist and coordinate communication for larger or more dangerous items.

The fire pits covered over with sand while still burning, and the leftover metal shrapnel are some of the dangers of beach cleanup. 😢

We have hundreds of people who help pick up tons of garbage that day and it’s greatly appreciated. Thanks to the for coordinating all these efforts.

Dismal Nitch and Naselle River are nearby beautiful destinations. Dismal Nich, besides having an incredible name, boasts an amazing view of the Columbia River, 4 miles across to Astoria, and upriver to Mt. St. Helens.

Naselle has some incredible beautiful natural surroundings and a salmon hatchery, where some of these photos were taken nearby.

Our beaches need your help with cleanup all year round, but ESPECIALLY the day after 4th of July. It’s a pretty raucous time at the beach on the 4th.

Volunteers with bags and other supplies will be at each of the approaches to help coordinate efforts.

Long Beach Peninsula community are you ready!? Grab your friends family neighbors coworkers anyone who can pitch in and help clean up the beach! July 5th sign-in starts at 9:00 at all major beach approaches! Community Soup Feed to follow!

The interior of the beach cabin! 🏡 🌊 It’s a one bedroom comfortable beach cabin with all the normal amenities, plus a few extras!

It’s got a full kitchen with sharp knives and even a few goodies to help you get started on making delicious foods like herbs, seasonings, condiments, coffee, etc.

The living room has a queen sized hideabed, many movies, games, and a few seaworthy books.

The bathroom is small with a single shower and vanity, but we also supply an outside shower if you want more space or the experience of hydro to go along with your sauna. Yep, we have a sauna too!

The bedroom is a full sized bed with a new mattress from Stumptown Mattress Co. It’s simple but has the most important element - a comfy bed!

It gets quite a bit of light, and you can hear the roar of the ocean while fading off to sleep at night. 🌊

Any other interior elements I forgot to mention?

Summer weather is coming on and guess what? The outdoor shower is fixed!! Time to book your beach getaway for a little RnR at the ocean - sauna and outdoor shower included, if you wish!

These pics show the path and new rock garden to the outdoor shower as well as the burn pit, sauna, and *gasp* the prototype of the outdoor tub/cold plunge. The final product is still being made, so it’s not quite here yet, but we are patiently (NOT! ) waiting on it. 🤣 It’ll be plumbed to both cold and hot water, so it offers year round enjoyment. 😱 😊

Also, LOCALS, you too can rent out the sauna, outdoor shower (and eventual tub), and even the indoor space for an evening of R&R with friends. Message me for info!
