It took thousands of years and the perfect conditions to create this view!

🌊 First, rocks were broken down by weathering processes like freezing, thawing, and erosion. Then, rivers carried the bits of rock to the ocean, where they continued eroding into sand.

💨 Waves and tides then brought the sand to the shore. The wind blew it around until plants started to hold it in place.

🌾 As the plants grew, their roots and leaves trapped more sand, building up dunes over time. Further from the shore, larger dunes now support trees, shrubs, and a variety of plants and wildlife.

King tide season has officially begun! As we prepare for some epic scenes on our shores, here are a few friendly reminders to help you stay safe:
➡️ Avoid the beaches at and around high tide — waves can quickly cover the entire beach and create dangerous conditions.
➡️ Save beachcombing for low tide.
➡️ Always keep an eye on the ocean.
