As if the mountains surrounding the Treehouse could not get more beautiful, they are beginning to get painted with the Mountain Laurel, Pennsylvania’s official state flower. One of the hiking trails behind the Treehouse is even named after it! 🌸

Since the creation of the Treehouse, Bob knew the concept for the second luxury rental on the property. With that being said, we are BEYOND excited to announce the Ohiopyle Hobbit House. 🎉

This Lord of the Rings themed house will sleep up to 10 people and will be accepting reservations soon (we will announce the exact date when we know 🤪).

✨Spotlight Saturday ✨
Today we are highlighting the floors of the treehouse. Believe it or not, the beautiful flooring was created by painstakingly cutting and sanding individual pieces of wood that were then placed down and glued one-by-one, followed by grout. This process was followed by layers of epoxy to withstand the foot traffic of our guests for years to come!

In honor of his birthday (a few days late), we wanted to take the time to tell you about the brains and brawn behind the Ohiopyle Treehouse.

Bob’s introduction into the construction trades started when he was 5 years old when he used some scrap lumber from his father to build a treehouse in the neighboring woods. Bob and his friends would build a new treehouse almost every summer through his early teens. Fast forward to his mid-20’s when he decided to leave the Finance industry to start a small remodeling business. After a few years remodeling homes in SW Pennsylvania he was building several custom homes per year. The housing crash of 2007 forced Bob to reevaluate things and he decided to take a position in the construction dept. of a growing Urgent Care business which would go on to become the largest Urgent Care company in the US. During his travels across the country he and his wife Nina enjoyed staying at AirBnB’s and thought it would be fun to build a unique weekly rental of their own on their property in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Bob had the perfect spot in mind on the edge of a hill looking into mountain laurel filled valley. After 2 years of permitting requirements and engineering challenges he was ready to start building and broke ground on July 25th of 2020. Construction would take nearly a year with the Treehouse officially opening for guests on July 4th weekend of 2021.
