A great find in our back yard - well almost - at least it's only minutes away. This year so far seems to be the year of the "bald eagle." To be honest that's always held a soft spot in our hearts so it's no surprise that when someone locally in the county offered an invitation to visit their bald eagle's nest, we accepted immediately! The residents were pleasantly surprised after the horrid ice storm a couple of years ago, when the nest fell. These bald eagle nests can weigh up to two tons and are a hefty weight for an ice-laden tree). But the eagle couple came back and constructed a new nest very close to the last one - even closer to their home on their farm.

Here's the blog post newly up: https://cwuap.blogspot.com/2022/03/fun-in-our-own-backyard.html

So this photo may not be much to the novice eye, but let me tell you, it's a milestone. Walt and I bought this fifth wheel a time back, and part of the reason was so the setup would be easier for Walt. That always put me in a good mood cause then he wasn't in a fussy mood.

Then comes the walking-the-dog-in-the-dark-in-the-wee-hours-of-the-morning-during-an-ice-storm-falling-twice-with-a -compression-fracture-on-his-L5 moment and convalescing for 8 weeks while working very hard not to get addicted to the oxy that was used to keep the back pain at bay. So much fun, I can tell you.πŸ™„

But at last, we're back out on the road again, with a little newer twist. Because the fifth wheel is *that* easy, there's, unfortunately, a lot Walt can not do - he's ordered not to do till he's fully recovered, and maybe not then either. We've learned back pain is serious, do your therapy, and keep your core strength up so that you do put any more pressure on your back. πŸ’ͺ

That said, the below photo is courtesy of the Claire Setup Team! 😬 Team Claire really means Claire solo, with a little kibitzing from Walt (he can't help himself)!πŸ’ƒ

New blog post up, with a little surprise. We saw one of these eagles last time here but really didn't think that I would be able to get a shot. This was sitting at the river's edge waiting for the sun to light up the color of the trees, and saw this guy booming overhead. I thought I hear some eagle screeching last night, but sure enough. Can't wait to see what else I can see this week - maybe even watching him do a little fishing while we do our fishing!

Well, this river is pretty phenomenal. I really don't catch that many fish, and Walt is always trying to bolster my fishing ability. But that's all changed at the . I'm catching fish like some pro. Either the stars are all lined up right or the White River chamber of commerce has hired a bunch of fish to jump on my line, because I'm catching fish...and I'm catching as many as Walt...and about the same size.

So our first day fishing on the river and we lucked out - got a GREAT guide and great conditions....so great that even Claire caught the first fish! More pics here. Walt got the big trophy for the day at 21" Brown Trout. Even Claire caught a Brown trout and didn't even know what they were before today....obviously they are pretty big trouts in the White River!

Another month, another river. We're trying to do some here in another great I've brought some lemons and potatoes in the hope that we can actually catch some. supposed to be famous for catching trout. Went down to the river's edge yesterday evening, and they were letting water out of the dam. The water is so low and so cold, (5th largest dam in the world) when it's released into the river, and meets the hot, humid air, a mist/fog appears on the river. Looks pretty neat and even mysterious. A few out, but closer to the water's edge, the more ethereal they look! However, the water is crystal clear!

Watercolors are hard for me - I'm a drawer, not a painter and yet they are so easy to take along and plunk down and do a quick sketch. I'm always envious of watercolor painters who can simply swish, swish, and have a masterpiece. Probably because I don't have enough time to practice.

But every once in awhile I turn out a pretty good piece and this watercolor on the Illinois River one morning, when it was beautifully foggy, is one of my best. Here's the pic and the painting.

Eastern OK can be stormy and quite rainy over here. The last nights have been filled with rain and they have had a lot of rain here. It's been delightfully cool but they are releasing water out of Tenkiller like crazy so the river is murky and not really good trout fishing - that doesn't mean we won't keep trying. The sun finally came out this afternoon and our idyllic angler's view out the back window just got magically spectacular. From misty morning to beautiful sunshine.

Although I love the banner photo above, one of our old standards was the reflection of our RV in those big convex mirrors on the side of semi-trucks. However for one reason or another I haven't been able to get a good one. This is a good effort and my favorite so far cause it always seems that we start out on I-40 (blurred and in the background) or are returning back on I-40. But it's not as good as it can be, so I will still keep trying.
