Today the Tamarack Cannabis crew took on trash duty on one of the dirtiest stretches of highway in the Flathead Valley - HWY 93, right by the dump. 🗑️🌎♻️

Last year, we adopted this stretch of highway and are committed to keeping our community clean. And boy, is it an undertaking! We collected more than 100 bags of trash in an effort to make our corridor a little greener. 💚

Thanks for the honks of support, today! It keeps us motivated. We’ll be back out there again, soon. 🥰

The 34th Annual Family Forestry Expo kicks off May 8! 🌲

The Family Forestry Expo is an annual, weeklong event that offers hands-on exposure to the role forests play in our everyday lives. This year the Family Forestry Expo is scheduled May 8th through May 13th with the theme of “Forests-Landscapes of Many Uses.”

Over 1,200 local fifth grade students from 25 schools stretching from Eureka to the Flathead Valley, will visit Expo between May 8th and May 12th to learn about natural resource topics. The students visit stations that provide educational presentations about fisheries, aquatic/riparian systems, archaeology, wildlife, fire, backcountry ethics, plant identification, and forest management.

On Saturday, May 13th, families are invited to share in expo activities from 9am to 3pm at the Trumbull Creek Educational Forest, located about two miles north of the junction of US Highway 2 and Montana Highway 40, just west of Columbia Falls, Montana.

The Saturday family-oriented event features a short forest walk that offers educational stations and demonstrations along the way. Each station provides information and hands-on activities that allow participants to learn about the many uses of our forests, private and public. A grandstand show will be presented at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and feature logging equipment demonstrations, the Forest Service Spotted Bear Ranger District mule pack string and logging sports demonstration. Various exhibits featuring local organizations, businesses and agencies that care for natural resources will be on display. Between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. a free logging camp lunch will be provided, compliments of Family Forestry Expo.

The Family Forestry Expo event takes place through the dedicated involvement of over 30 diverse organizations such as local service clubs, forest industry, government natural resource agencies, conservation groups, professional societies, local businesses, many interested individuals and numerous local donations.

For more information, visit www.familyforestryexpo.org.

Hooray for snow! Did you know that the Holbrook Overlook, the newest section of the Whitefish Trail, provides stunning views of the Flathead Valley and more southern exposure and sunshine on these short winter days. It’s the perfect spot for snowshoeing, trail pups, and quick winter adventures. If you are interested in cross country skiing, the nearby Big Mountain Trailhead is groomed by Glacier Nordic Club (GNC). Updates on Nordic grooming can be found on GNC’s website: www.glaciernordicclub.org. As a reminder, the following WT trailheads are plowed for winter use: Lion Mountain, Skyles, Beaver Lake, Swift Creek, Reservoir, Big Mtn., and Holbrook Overlook. All other trailheads are not plowed consistently, so drive with care if trying to access these harder to reach places.

11/22/2022

They're here! The downtown winter decorations made their triumphant return to Whitefish this weekend and will remain up until Feb. 26, 2023.
