I thought it would be a good idea to update everyone on the process of getting to this physical therapy program, which will also explain the timing and purpose for Christian this year. Christian had a procedure called a femoral osteotomy in May. Basically, they break the femurs and pin them back together so that they are positioned correctly in the socket of the hip. He also had some muscle work done on the right leg. The reason for needing this is that overtime his tight muscles had pulled the right hip out of socket (90%) and the left slightly. This is typical of kids who have high tone with their cerebral palsy. He needs a lot of rehab to get back to his normal standing in walking or to achieve more of than he had. We are extremely grateful to have this opportunity!
