The hike to the Mt. Fremont fire lookout from the Sunrise visitor's center certainly doesn't disappoint. The vistas are dramatic from every angle, the wildflowers are particularly beautiful right now, and the wildlife is incredible! We saw mountain goats & marmots, got a visit from a curious pika, and glimpsed a black bear. Shout-out to the volunteers who were quick to offer information, directions and encouragement!

Two of our favorite places to cool off when it gets hot in Packwood: Walupt Lake and Clear Lake. Walupt is so incredibly clear with great swimming spots all to yourself if you're willing to venture beyond the day use area. Clear Lake is a great spot to fish, swim, and boat. We love to watch the cascading falls and fish ladder at the lakes outlet.
