"The Frank Sinatra House (1947), designed by E. Stewart Williams, is one of the most iconic homes in Palm Springs, California. This is a house that screams style, it’s the epitome of cool. A two-story, L-shaped structure with a flat roof and large windows with panoramic views of the mountains and the Coachella Valley, you’re immersed in old Hollywood glamor on a huge lot in a posh neighborhood." - via Design Milk (https://bit.ly/3zMqQGV)

Modernism Week Partners with Trina Turk for New Events in 2024

PALM SPRINGS, CA (January 24, 2024) – Modernism Week has partnered with renowned fashion designer, Palm Springs icon and architectural preservationist Trina Turk to provide two new exciting programs during Modernism Week, which takes place February 15-25, 2024. Trina will present her new line of Spring designs at an exclusive poolside fashion show at an historic architectural residence in Palm Springs; and later in the week she will have a spirited conversation about fashion in Palm Springs with long-time style icon Nelda Linsk at the Annenberg Theater. Modernism Week events are open to the public and tickets are on sale now at modernismweek.com. Some events sell out quickly due to limited capacity and high demand.

“We are honored to be able to highlight the designs of Trina Turk,” said Lisa Vossler Smith, Modernism Week CEO. “Trina’s vibrant and colorful fashions embody the relaxed glamour of Palm Springs style and we are thrilled to showcase her newest Spring and Limited-Edition Collections in a fashion show at the legendary Frank Sinatra Twin Palms Estate. Later in the week, Trina and Palm Springs style icon, Nelda Linsk, will discuss Palm Springs fashion and the influential fashion shows hosted in Palm Springs over the years.”

On February 18, Modernism Week will present a Trina Turk Fashion Show at the Historic Frank Sinatra Estate known as Twin Palms ($200, $250). A limited number of guests will be able to experience this once-in-a-lifetime occasion: a live fashion show of Trina Turk’s Spring and Limited-Edition Collection for 2024 at a notable midcentury masterpiece of architecture. This choreographed show set around the estate’s famous piano-shaped pool, will feature thirty new fashions designed by Trina Turk for Spring 2024, Tickets are $200 and $250 for preferred seating.

On February 22, Modernism Week attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear Nelda Linsk and Trina Turk, two iconic women of Palm Springs fashion and style, speak at an event called Palm Springs Fashion, Then & Now: Trina Turk and Nelda Linsk in Conversation. Nelda and Trina will sit down together for the first time and have a lively and entertaining conversation with a focus on Palm Springs fashion and influential fashion shows that have been hosted in Palm Springs. The aura of the city has long played a significant role in fashion with world-renowned designers with Emilio Pucci, Bill Blass, Helen Rose and Louis Vuitton choosing Palm Springs to debut their new collections. Nelda will share amusing stories of hosting Emilio Pucci Fashion shows at her home in the 1960’s, the Edgar J. Kaufmann Residence (designed by Richard Neutra in 1946) with Emilio himself ‘in controlo.’ Nelda’s friendship with photographer Slim Aarons will be explored and photos prominently featuring notable Palm Springs luminaries will be shared including those of industrial designer Raymond Loewy, interior designer Steve Chase, actress Lita Baron, and model Helen Dzo Dzo.
Trina will reflect on the visionary decision to open her first retail store in the once-lackluster Uptown Palm Springs area in 2002, that today is the fashionable cornerstone of the revitalized Uptown Design District. Trina, along with her late husband Jonathan Skow, founded the fashion label Trina Turk in 1995. Attendees of the event will gain insight into Trina's evolving lifestyle brand incorporating optimism, dynamic color and dazzling signature prints which celebrate California and all things Palm Springs. The event will be moderated by Annalisa Capurro, Modernism Week Board of Directors, also known as Ms. Modernism.
Tickets are $35.

On February 20, Modernism Week will present Poolside Fashion at The S**g House: The Style of Trina Turk. Guests will be able to mix and mingle with other modernists during this afternoon soirée at The S**g House, one of the Featured Homes in 2024.
