I've come to figure out that I have developed a variety of talents and connections from my life experiences and education and want to use them to serve the public as needed. Here are the services I offer:
* Photography, with a specialization in marching band action shots.
* Musicians for events. I do not manage musicians but can help you find the perfect musician(s) for your event.
* Wedding Offic

Those are the main services but I can also help with office management and putting systems & procedures in place; travel logistics; mentoring and coaching young teachers; and of course, instrumental music ensemble clinics.
I've got a few quick trips coming up this semester so I thought I'd give flying with only a carry-on suitcase a try. So I had to put together my carry-on toiletry kit. I just have to add a toothbrush, toothpaste and few other items and it's done!
I'm not traveling until October but if I don't do it now, I may not be able to make it quite this cute!

If you missed watching Katie Ledecky swim her heat in the 1500m this morning, you have to go back and watch. The consistency of technique is incredible and watching her swim like everyone was on her heels (even though she was 15 seconds ahead of the second place swimmer) was inspiring!!

I'm sure you've seen in the US news that the UK has a new Prime Minister and the Labour Party is now in power for the first time in quite some time. My cousin Jake wrote this article that explains what it means and how things may move forward, especially when it comes to UK-EU relations. It's a very well written article and even thought I'm not the most politically knowledgeable person, I understood every bit of it. Give it a read, if you'd like!

More later but we have made it to London, done a little sightseeing, eaten a delicious meal, gotten FIRED UP by Graham Owen Jones, hugged some of our London Band Week friends and now ready for bed.

I wrote this as a comment on Elias Haslinger's post. You'd think as a musician I could be creative enough to find a new combination of words to express my feelings but even these below were difficult to put together and they certainly don't fully express my sadness at the news of Dr. James Polk's passing.
I just don't know what to say - there are not enough words in the English language to express how grateful I was to be his student (I wasn't a good piano student, though!). He was the kindest hearted man ever and I will always appreciate our (not enough) time together!
Rest in peace, Dr. Polk.

The band is leaving June 24 and will be in the United Kingdom for a week doing different performances and showcases.
Band director friends - a friend n the North of Austin area will be coming hiring an assistant director soon.

Our officers had a little fundraiser to raise funds to offset some costs of our Band Olympics in a few weeks so they had a Pie a Director or Officer thing after school today.
I don’t know that I’ll ever get the smell of whipped cream out of my nose….
I’m sure there will be photos posted to our student run Dragon Band social media soon.
It wasn’t the worst thing ever but I hope it doesn’t become a tradition. Let’s do a dunking booth instead!

I’ve been listening to Barbra Streisand’s autobiography/memoir (what’s the technical difference??) whilst driving since November.
It’s 59 chapters and 48 hours of sitting with Barbra telling ALL the stories of her life. I don’t remember a time where I had to focus on traffic or something and paused the recording so I wouldn’t miss anything.
I’m down to the last hour and a half now and am sad that I won’t have “my new friend Barbra” with me every time I go somewhere. If you’re an audiobook person, I highly recommend it!!!
Just a fun fact about me - I’ve become an audiobook person by listening to autobiographies read by the author. It’s such a cool thing to be driving somewhere and feel like you have a famous person in the car with you, telling you their stories as you drive.
