The John Byrne Band is led by Dublin native and Philadelphia-based John Byrne.Their debut album, After the Wake, was released to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic in 2011.
On the Rocky Road to Dublin today with a stop off at Glendalough…tonight we play at Kennedy’s, 30-32 Westland Row in Dublin with Home Brew Folk featuring my brother Damien Byrne along with Simon Bushby and Finbarr O'Connor…it’ll all start around 8:30.
Onward to Cobh tonight (Monday) for an 8:30 gig at The Rob Roy Bar, Cobh..!
With everything that has been going on it's hard to believe we begin another Ireland Tour this weekend. There'll be thirty of us traveling the southern half of the country playing some tunes and having a blast. Late April in Ireland is about as good as it gets. The days are getting longer, the newborn lambs are dancing all over the fields and the land has fully awakened from its winter slumber. Join us for a musical tour of the South and West and we hit Kerry (Di**le), Cork (Cobh) and Waterford (Dungarven) before heading up to Dublin. Before Covid we played many evenings of the music of Shane and the Pogues around the area, it was always a fun side project for us to work on these songs. This was the set list from the last time we did it… in Manayunk Dec 2019 - We should plan a few more. (And yes, the Pogues did cover Eve of Destruction ..!)
