Ukrainian Easter Pysanky Eggs, Drawings and Paintings by Anna Perun
Anna Perun is a Ukrainian artist born and raised in Western Ukraine along the Carpathian Mountains. The peaceful beauty of the countryside in Ukraine inspired Anna to transform her artistic ideas into beautiful works of art. Anna shares her creative ideas with people around the world by reflecting the beauty of nature on a canvas
with her paintbrush. Today, Anna’s passion for art blossoms in teaching others to appreciate the rhythm of life through her creativity and dedication to her artwork. Anna’s Art career started when she was very young in her native homeland of Ukraine. She grew up learning to appreciate art from a very talented and accomplished man; her father Peter Ostapiv. Anna’s father was a very skilled woodcarver and metalworker eager to share his experience, wisdom, and his creative skills with his daughter. Her father taught Anna the value of hard work and demonstrated how to obtain beneficial skills with patience, determination and creativity in developing her artistic skills. Anna’s aspiration and perseverance opened many doorways into her art career. She received a Master’s Degree at a Technical School of Fine Arts in the city of L’viv in Western Ukraine. In addition, Anna studied interior design for five years at the L’viv State Institute of Decorative and Fine Arts. Shortly after completing her education, Anna worked for eight years at a company called Reclama where she assisted professional artists in creating concepts and for business art projects and advertising. The company she worked for gave Anna the opportunity to gain new experiences by means of education and professional training as a stepping stone for expressing her artwork. In 1991 when Anna arrived in the United States, she expressed her passion for art by embellishing a children's playground with colorful images of Walt Disney Characters. Over the years, Anna worked on a much larger scale creating stained glass depictions on windows of businesses, vast murals, mosaics, and murals painted on glass. Anna is professionally trained in drawing and painting portraits of people, landscapes, still life and surrealism. She also excels in writing on Ukrainian Easter eggs. The Ukrainian name for Easter Egg is “Pysanka.” Traditionally in Ukraine pysanky were given gifts to family and friends as a symbol of love, protection, hope, success, good health, wealth and prosperity, and a good harvest. The pysanka is a symbol of rebirth in the coming of spring creating new life. Anna Perun’s beautiful art has touched the lives of many people around the world. Her distinctive works of art make a colorful statement of true artistic beauty in today’s revolutionizing world of creativity and imagination.
