Sometimes, leaning into our core value means working on a holiday.

As an entrepreneur and co-parent, I adjust my schedule to what’s best for my kids and business. This week, that means taking a few days off early in the week to enjoy quality time with my littles and working extra hours over the holiday weekend. I’m grateful for a life and business that flexibly support my top priority: being a present, loving mom.

1. We’re transforming tech companies: We’ve teamed up with a Dallas-based AI company to enhance their brand positioning, visual identity, and sales materials. Their groundbreaking real-world AI technology is revolutionizing industries worldwide.

2. We’re ready to launch: We partnered with twerking, shirtless, bearded, hairy winemakers to create a web experience that matches their big Paso Robles red wines (and even bigger personalities.) Stay tuned for the launch of wild new website.

What does it mean when a service-based business hasn’t posted to social for a while? They’re likely doing the work they’ve been hired to do, (prioritizing existing clients vs. new sales.)

If you own a service-based business you know how this goes… and it may be intimidating to get back to posting. Here’s what we know:

Return authentically. Audiences are tired of automated posts working an algorithm. As long as you do you and you’re sticking to your brand you can’t go wrong. You may want to address your followers about your absence. Then, consider a ‘micro plan’ to help you stick to sharing. What’s one small step you can add to your systems to make sure you’re keeping your crowd in the loop?

We’ve been busy on branding projects this year and digging deep into what’s next for our team. We have some big exciting projects wrapping up this month and are kicking off some new ones. Looking forward to sharing our new work and what we’ve learned along the way!

Kimberly is our incredible and irreplaceable Project Manager. Based out of Michigan, she’s been with the Five Acres team for 3 years now! She comes from a large agency account management background and knows just how to keep our team and partners on track.

Here are a few fun facts about Kimberly:

💃🕺 Song you can't help but dance to:
Jump in the Line by Harry Belefonte. It’s hands down, the best dance-in-your-kitchen-thank-goodness-no-one-is-watching song.

🍫 Favorite candy or treat
I have two sons. My oldest and I have no willpower when it comes to baked goods, especially chocolate ones. We can’t be trusted to eat a reasonable quantity! The last time a short-lived pack of Oreos made it to our house, my younger son put a post-it on the package with the rule, “Only two cookies per person, per day.” My oldest and I, unfortunately, did not comply…

🌴Go-to OOO activity

My family loves camping. Being outside on a lake or in the woods is right up our alley. My husband and I also have a bit of a travel bug and love chances to go somewhere new.

🤷🤷‍♂️ Unpopular opinion

I’m not into puffer vests (or really any vests), but they’re pretty popular here in Michigan. I always think of Back to the Future, “Hey kid! What’s with the life preserver?”

💻 Best part about being a part of the Five Acres team: As a Project Manager, I love working with a team that truly gets things done and gets things done well. Plus, our entire team is downright pleasant to be around!

Cody is what they call a design unicorn. In other words, he’s the team member every agency wishes they had but can rarely find.

He's our go-to guy when we need extra help with pretty much anything: UX/UI, print, copywriting, and even CSS/front-end development.

Fun fact: He was one of Halleh's star students in her interactive design class at Cal Poly and has been working with Five Acres ever since.

If it’s Starbucks, just straight drip coffee (purely for the caffeine boost). Anywhere else though, a mocha is my go-to.

If there’s snow on the ground, you’ll find me skiing—downhill, cross-country, anything goes! In summer and fall, I swap my ski boots for trail runners and head out hiking instead.

📚 Book(s) I’m reading now
I’m currently reading and loving Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. And if you’re a skier (or ski-curious), I recently finished Power Days by Heather Hansman and really can’t recommend it enough.

I love so many things about Five Acres: the projects, the flexibility, our values. But really what I love the most is the people! I’m so lucky to get to work with such kind, creative, inspiring folks that help make me a better designer and better human every single day.

It's easy to get stuck. Stuck in a creative block, in a workout rut, or without motivation on the job. The best way out? Consider your top priorities and rank them. Are your actions reflecting what you value most? If not, it's time to pivot.

You always have the opportunity to choose a different behavior, a different mindset, or a different path.

Today, we honor the beautiful traditions and cultures of Indigenous people.

One such tradition for many Native Nations: rights and integrity for women. Long before European settlers arrived, Indigenous cultures led the way for gender equality.

In many cases, Indigenous women were economically dependent, had political influence, lived in a culture free from gender-based violence, and even fought alongside men in battles.

When we looked into female warriors (how awesome is that?), we came across an Arapaho woman named Pretty Nose. Pretty Nose fought in the Battle of the Little Bighorn, reportedly became a war chief, and lived to be over 100 years old.

To say we’re inspired by her—and the progressive culture she lived in—is an understatement.

🦸 Your personal superpower: I can whip up a solid meal with barely anything in the fridge and pantry—just ask my husband. 👩‍🍳I can also spot a missing Oxford comma from a mile away—just ask Halleh. 🤓

💃 Song you can't help but dance to: “Hold Me” by Fleetwood Mac. I’m not sure if it’s the epic cowbell, the soulful sound of Christine McVie’s voice, or both. Whatever it is, I’m here for it.

🤷 Unpopular opinion: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is the superior Home Alone movie. I mean, does it get any better than Manhattan sights, Rob Schneider, and Duncan’s Toy Shop? Not a chance.

We designed an intuitive and engaging task management dashboard to help university event coordinators confidently plan graduation ceremonies.

We studied up on Marching Order users, identified their primary pain points, and delivered a user-friendly flow as well as an expanded color palette.
