My favorite daughter, Stephanie and I, just returned from a cruise on the MSC Seaside, August 31-September 7, 2019. MSC, an Italian owned company, launched the Seaside in December 2017. It was the first ship in the line's fleet to be christened in the United States This beautifully decorated ship hosts over 4,000 passengers and 1,500 crew members. My first cruise with MSC
was on the Davina in October 2017. I enjoyed that ship and was looking forward to sailing on the Seaside. They both were wonderful experiences.
The MSC line is a great international meeting ship where you can meet and converse with people from around the globe. We met passengers from Denmark, London, Italy, Germany, Scotland, South America and the USA.
There are many amenities and adventures to explore including a casino. There is also a bowling alley, 325 ft. zip line, the Bridge of Sighs and a glass catwalk where you can take a morning stroll while enjoying a view of the ocean beneath your feet. Stand on the Swarovski Crystal Staircase and take beautiful photos. The Metropolitan Theater offers nightly Broadway style shows. My favorite was the Michael Jackson Experience and the Opera. As you stroll around the ship you will find many lovely lounges and clubs where you can to sit and converse, dance or listen to a wide variety of music.
The decision to sail was delayed by MSC due to Hurricane Dorian. Though Dorian created concern for the captain and crew, the storm was closely monitored, and we were able to cruise our original itinerary out of Miami to San Juan, Charlotte Amalie (St. Thomas), Philipsburg (St. Maarten) and Nassau. The weather was monitored daily by the crew and we received hurricane updates from CNN on our in-cabin TV. We were blessed to have almost perfect weather except for 10 minutes of rain in St. Thomas, however, passengers were monitoring and praying for the families in the Abaco Islands and the Bahamas and prayed for those affected by Dorian.
If you have not yet experienced MSC, I invite you to do so asap. There are many different cabin categories to choose from with a price that fits your budget from spacious suites to clusters of connecting cabins. The exclusive MSC Yacht Club, with real wood and marble furnishings, offers private accommodations with its own private dining room, pool and hot tub and 24-hour butler service. A special thanks to our host, Derrick Strothers, MSC Business Development Manager, for providing opportunities to meet other travel professionals and to learn and explore the MSC ships and itineraries.
