Effective January 8, 2025, an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for American visitors is now required to enter the UK. It also applies to passengers transiting through the UK.
The ETA will be linked to the traveller's passport and will last for two years or until the traveller's passport expires – whichever comes first.
By April 2025, all visitors who don't need a visa will require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to travel to the UK. Note: eligible Europeans can apply from March 5, 2025 and will need an ETA to travel from April 2, 2025.
COSTS:
An ETA costs £10 and permits multiple journeys to the UK for stays of up to six months at a time over two years or until the holder’s passport expires.
