Foodie Friday: Warm Up with Homemade Apple Cider 🍎🍂

As the leaves turn golden and the air becomes crisp, there's nothing quite like a warm mug of homemade apple cider to get you in the autumnal spirit. This simple recipe is perfect for cozy nights in or festive gatherings with friends and family.

Think of it as fall's answer to hot chocolate! 😉

Ingredients:

6-8 apples, cored and quartered (a mix of varieties like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Fuji works best)
1 orange, quartered
4 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp whole cloves
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1-gallon water
Brown sugar or maple syrup to taste (optional)

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for at least 2 hours, or until the apples are very soft.
Mash the apples and oranges with a potato masher or wooden spoon.
Strain the cider through a cheesecloth or fine-mesh sieve.
Sweeten to taste with brown sugar or maple syrup, if desired.
Serve warm and enjoy the cozy flavors of fall!

Pro Tip: For an extra touch of autumnal magic, garnish your cider with a cinnamon stick and a slice of orange.
