When I was cleaning up a bunch of boxes of records in my garage yesterday, I came across a box of test pressings that I hadn’t gone through yet. Turns out there were multiple copies of the U.S. test pressing for U2’s Rattle and Hum! I’ll be bringing this copy to the this Sunday in Massapequa.

A question for CD dealers: how do you grade CDs on ? If there’s no obvious signs of wear, are they VG+ (like how I would grade a previously opened record) or NM?
I wanted to check out the garage sale scene yesterday so I visited s few town-wide sales near me. 10-15 years ago, I got 90% of my records at garage and estate sales. That is not the case anymore. Very few records to be found. Most everyone had either sold them at previous sales or their kids took them. I found an interesting CD collection and some random scrap records but that was about it. A question for CD dealers: how do you grade CDs on ? If there’s no obvious signs of wear, are they VG+ (like how I would grade a previously opened record) or NM?
Tomorrow (4/20), I’ll be selling at the Beacon Record & CD Fest. My health is improving and I’m feeling stronger so it was a last-minute decision. I hope to see a lot of my Hudson Valley friends!
New items posted today on my Discogs store (link in bio). Here are a few of them.
I posted this photo yesterday on the page. What these records have in common is that each one was made by someone who either worked at or hung out frequently at Danceteria (and thats not including all of the big names that hung out there like Madonna, Beastie Boys, Sade, LL Cool J, etc.). It was a great place to work and I’m so fortunate to have known most of these people. BTW - these are not for sale; these are just some records from my collection that I thought I’d share.
My chemo has been going well so it looks like I have a short period of time (while I have the energy) before my stem cell transplant in April to do a few shows. So I’m going to try to get back into it next weekend on Saturday at the in Wayne, NJ and on Sunday at the in Massapequa, NY. Here’s a few of the records I’ll be bringing. And because I sold off my previous 2 tables of records in Austin last October and started new tables at WFMU later that month, all the records I’ll be bringing are new to NJ and LI. I haven’t done shows since October!
I promised myself I would finish cataloging my collection on while I was home this winter. 5 weeks later and I’m finished with the LPs! Still have to add the 45s (hopefully this spring). I’m pleased with the results. I’ve used excel spreadsheets in the past but its much easier this way.
If I’m going to be around the house for the next few months, might as well take advantage of it. This is where I’ll be sitting and cataloging my collection on . Its a project I’ve started a few times but didn’t follow through. Hoping to have it done by March. 🤞🤞
I don’t usually talk about my health issues here on social media but a lot of my friends on the record show curcuit have noticed my absence and have been checking in to see whats up with me. I have a bone marrow disorder called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Its basically an early stage of leukemia but at least its treatable. The doctors are talking about me getting outpatient chemo for a few months and recovering at home with the end goal being a stem cell transplant. I’m lucky to have some top doctors at Montefiore Einstein in the Bronx so I’m feeling pretty confident we can beat this. I look forward to seeing everyone again soon at the shows, hopefully late spring- early summer. https://www.mds-foundation.org/what-is-mds/
