Take care of each other.

When we think about community, this is what we think about. Boil it all down; this is why we gather and group together. Because we all share our love and because we need to hear it in return sometimes. Because we need to remember what connects us. Because when we come together, we become stronger. Because at one point or another, we all need someone to take care of us. Because at one point or another, taking care of someone else is the clearest way to say "I love you."

Tune in this Saturday and join us in saying "I love you." Our bestie Ethan has taken that giant heart of his and put it to work once again to bring us together in music, lights, and movement. All proceeds from the event will be used to support those in our local arts & entertainment industries who have found themselves without work and without options. We ask that you join us in donating to those in need if you are able!

We are so excited for UNLIT this Saturday! We recognize that there can be roadblocks to certain groups within our community being able to enjoy shows such as this - we want to make sure that as wide a range of people can enjoy our shows as possible, and in the hopes of creating an inclusive space we are opening up 5 or so tickets for people in our LGBTQ+, POC, and disability community. If you are not able to attend for financial reasons and feel like you fit this description, please send Savory Events a private message and we would love to make it happen for you. If you have a friend who fits and might like to come, send this their way!

The small amount of space at The Liquor Store means we aren't able to offer as many tickets as we'd like - if you would like to and are able to help us support the community in this way, you can donate $10 to add another ticket to the giveaway - message us and we can arrange the best way to get that to us.

Unlit is right around the corner! Our brainchild concept show has been a long time coming - we are curating a dynamic and immersive experience of music (through The Liquor Store's Funktion 1 sound) and lights (3D LED light show by Savory Lighting Design).

Musically, Savory shows have never been about highlighting any specific genre - we always try to curate an intentional experience using a variety of musical styles and an engaging environmental design. On behalf of Believe You Me & Savory Events -

We want to speak directly to our community about the incident that took place on June 1st at White Owl Social Club, where a member of the security team forcibly ejected a trans individual from the venue. The way this incident was handled was unacceptable. As a result of this incident, we and many in our community, especially those who identity as LGBTQ+, have expressed concerns about safety, visibility, and respect in the venue.

The safety and trust of our community within our events is our top priority, and this incident forced us to question whether we needed to find a new home for Your Sunday Best.

The owners of White Owl invited all the community leaders currently hosting events at the venue to a meeting to express their sentiments on what happened, apologize, listen to feedback, and determine a path forward that could rebuild trust within the community, especially those most deeply impacted by what happened. They’ve taken the recommendations to heart and have made promises with timelines to not only change their venue operations to be inclusive, but to also invest in ally work to better understand how they can be part of the solution.

We are encouraged by their response, and have decided both to continue hosting events there, and to play a part in holding them accountable to the changes they have promised.

Bacon Ball DJ Update!!

First, the bad news: REsy is moving to Cleveland to be with her family during a time of need, and will no longer be able to DJ Bacon Ball XIV: Baconometry - Full Circle. We are sad to miss her but glad that she's able to support her family at this time.

The good news is that our friend Michael Manahan has agreed to tag in for her, and will be doing the honors of closing out the night for us!

Michael, a new Portland resident, has been an incredible force in the Seattle house music scene for 20+ years, producing internationally recognized music and running the Hunt and Gather record label. Michael co-owns club Rebar, home to Flammable, the longest running house music weekly on the west coast. He also produces the Cascadia music festival among several other events.

Michael is a wonderful silver lining, and we are thrilled he is joining us
