Ascension Small Business Power Week

Ascension Small Business Power Week consists of programs, services, and organizations in the parish that are available to help your small businesses.

Participate in the 7th Annual Small Business Power Week. Events will take place virtually during the week of May 13 – May 17. The week-long event will showcase free workshops on Monday, May 13 and Thursday, May 16 and a face to face program to help small businesses grow from idea to expansion. Friday, May 17. Speaker's will focus on a variety of topics and will conclude with a lunch speaker, Secre

tary of State, Nancy Landry. There is a $10 fee for lunch. Power Week is hosted by the Microbusiness Enterprise Corporation of Ascension (MBECA) and is a collaboration with the Ascension Small Business Center, Ascension Economic Development Corporation, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, the Donaldsonville Chamber and the Ascension Chamber Small Business Network. During the weeklong event, MBECA will be demonstrating how to get certified in the Louisiana Economic Development Small and Emerging Business Development, Hudson and Veteran’s Initiatives Programs. These certifications offer technical assistance and training opportunities for those who qualify as part of the State of Louisiana’s commitment to grow and retain small and emerging businesses in the state of Louisiana and has special emphasis on rural business development. MBECA is starting its new small business class on September 26 at 6pm. The course will take place at the Ascension Small Business Center at 2430 S. Burnside Ave (Ascension Credit Union rear entrance). The workshop is 6 classes. All participants must be certified in the Small and Emerging Business Program through Louisiana Economic Development. MBECA Small Business Center is accepting nominations for its Small Business Roundtables Program, an innovative peer-to-peer learning program that brings business leaders together for a yearlong experience of collaborative learning, problem solving and professional development.

Through group discussions, small business leaders work collaboratively to enhance management skills, improve decision-making and identify strengths and opportunities for improvement as well as explore best practices, share business challenges and brainstorm solutions in a supportive environment.

Participation must be certified in the SEBD program. Roundtables start in August 20 and meet 10 times throughout the year (one time per month).
