The social networks and social media that are currently out there are limited. As we spoke with other people about our thoughts and concerns we found we were not alone. gether we set out to change the online social networking experience. The site focuses on People, Personas, and privacy more than any other site out there. The site is built for you and your communities. Cliqs give a unique twist in the way people interact online. A user has the ability to be part of as many cliqs as they want, without those cliqs seeing each other. This means that a user can be part of a work cliq, a family cliq, and a friends cliq, and none of those cliqs would even know the other existed, creating a more real-to-life social networking experience, as well as allowing the user to target specific communities when posting. The great thing about our Cliqs or communities is that we put on different hats every time we interact. When I talk to my friends, I am comfortable and we can talk about almost everything, but when I am at work I put on a more professional hat. This is awesome because I get to be the person I am, in every group. We have extended this idea of different hats to the idea of personas. We allow you to have different names or identities when you enter a cliq. For example: I’m the Green Wizard when I interact with DND gaming friends, but with my family I am me. But none of this matters if everyone can see all my personas. The beauty of YourCliqs is the amount of privacy that has been built into the site. YourCliqs has 3 main layers of privacy built into it: Personas, Cliqs, and a Community Search. Personas allow a user to create multiple aliases to be used among different cliqs. These personas can have different settings applied to each, so when a user joins a cliq, they can choose which persona they want to join a cliq with and only share the information they have tied to the persona they are joining with. Cliqs have privacy built into them through invitation settings and creator settings. A cliq has three options for privacy settings: Invitation Only, Request to Join, and Public. The default setting for a cliq is invitation only. This is our most private setting and means that a user would need to know about the cliq in order to join it. In addition to the invitation settings, the creator of the cliq has added control through their creator settings. These settings allow the creator to choose who can post what, remove posts they don’t like, and set other users to help them “administer” the site if they want. The last built-in layer of privacy is the search. In YourCliqs users are searching by cliqs, not individuals. This makes sense to the structure of YourCliqs as you wouldn’t be able to have a friend outside of a cliq anyway. In order for a user to see information about another person, that person would need to be tied to a cliq with the user. And though technology is always changing and we can’t 100% guarantee complete security for a user, we can give users the control to watch their sites for themselves. The best person to find someone who doesn’t belong on a website is the person who created the site in the first place. Let them decide who should and shouldn’t be allowed in their cliq.
