Sailors we are a special breed for sure, and us being overachievers and a little OCD about labeling things came up with this idea for night time. Some 3M glow in the dark tape and a label maker Socks came up with this. WOW what a difference it makes at night.

There is something about lo9king in the fridge and the cabinets and throughing something together. Red onion, ground beef, peppers, tomatoes, some spices and pasta; Vala dinner. We will call it yum yum for short. Brought up to the cockpit to watch the start of the sunset over the gulf. What a great end to the day.

Finally got the new water heater in! Though there was the tiny boat neighbor (like 5'3) that I roped into helping. I still had to do some boat yoga amd draw on my rock climbing skills to hang upside-down, it fit! Next is to plumb it in and flush the system.

Got the water back in, with the floor back in mostly … resting in place - we have some finishing work to do, revarnishing the floor possibly, and cleaning the fine layer of dust and yuck off the rest of the boat!

Almost got the water tank back in! Cut up the floor, got it out and found the holes, had a welder come out and cut out the bad area and make it so it held air for the presser yest. Covered the hole thing with an epoxy bas rustolium paint. Now getting the rubber back in place for bonding. Next get the new water heater in, clean the bilge (first time in 22 years). And drop the bad boy back in! Then try and get the floor back in (not a carpenter), and it's time to move on board!!!!!

Almost ready to go back in. Turned out it was an easy fix , well kind of. Just need to get the rank painted and then drop it in.

12-22-2004, that is the last day that I had a drink of anything that had alcohol in. I know that it is not something that a lot of people talk about, but I am not shy about being in AA and not drinking. Honestly I am very proud of having 19 years solber. This evening I got to speak at a meeting and pick up my 19 year chip. I think of all the people that I have met through the years and am thankful for those in my life that I call friend or brother. I k ow that if I had continued down the path that I was on that I would probably not be alive today, and if I was I would be in a much different place. Both Socks and I are looking for to the end of 2023 being spend with friends knowing that this time in 2024 we will be on the hook somewhere in the islands exploring with Faelan.

You know it is going to be a good day when you walking down the dock and someone calls you over and asks if you would like to go sailing for a little. I mean how do you answer that? You say "yes" of course. So at 10:00 o'clock I found myself pushing off the dock on a Catalina 36 with a group of guys, knowing only one.

Wind was light but enough to push the little boat to around 5 knots, then it dulled in a bit amd we did some tweeking of the cars and brought the traveler to windward som, we hit 7.1 knots at one point amd averaged 6.5. Not bad for a 36 foot boat.

YES, AT LAST. Got the water tank unhooked, up and out. Yep that is 140 gallon water tank sitting in the saloon. Not as heavy as we thought it would but then again we had four guys lifting it out. Now the real fun begins, clean it, find the leak, figure out if fixing it is an option. Put it back in.

Things that make me sad but happy at the same time. Pulling up the floor to fix or put in our water tank. Sad because the floor on this 20 year old girl was in amazing shape, happy because I am getting to know her inside and out. They did a really good job of putting her together because this in a pain in the ass. I hope I do as good a job putting her back together.

Why we moved to Florida close to the water, sunset dinghy rides when the tide is too low for our boat to leave the slip and dolphins … the day we stop enjoying them is the day we should get off the water :-)

What a weekend. Friday went and did a trail run on a and then Saturday did a trial run on a Both runs were amazing and crazy fast. Top speed of 57 kn on the Intrepid and 64 kn on the Scout. Just quick runs out to the Gulf and back, runs that would take Faelan better than 2 hours only took less than half an hour.

Might need to get a bigger outboard for our dinghy

I will confess to being conflicted. Part of me is happy to say I got the floor up in one piece, but my heart is sad because I am not going to be able to reuse what I got up. With seeing how well this girl was made I now k ow why even though she is 20 years old the floor did not make any noise when walking around.

Finally getting off my ass and doing some needed . At some point the water heater desided to take a crap, no big deal the water is warm enough, but then the 22 year old water tank figured it was time to go. So did some to get the heater out, and now getting ready to try out my carpentry skills by cutting a big hole to get it out. Yes there are tears in my eyes about this, but the new plastic one might be able to hold more water and that is never a bad thing.

Did someone say "boat jobs?" That is the theam. Got the water heater out, and then the table. Now it is time to guesstimate where the leaking water tank is so I can cut up our beautiful floor and pull it out so we can get it fixed or a new one made. The best part is neither one of us is a carpenter, hoping it comes out good.

Finally had a chance to explore the sandbars at low tide. The beauty of the water, warm and on a clear / clean day - safe and pleasant to explore. First dingy drift of the season ❤️ horseshoe crab shells, and amazing sunsets with friends.

This not so@little friend got trapped in the cup holder in front of the binnacle. Being the softies that we are, we tried to hand rescue him before he became dehydrated. He had other ideas for preferred escape route … new bucket list item checked off … frog rescue by hair 😍

Varnish: As the old adage goes “The Devil is in the details.” While I/Socks was away being a Ranger at the Miami LoveBurn, Boots was busy sanding and prepping for varnishing our rails. Yesterday, we (mostly Boots) taped the edges with vinyl (not masking) tape on the port side of the boat. Today, on to the starboard side! … and maybe even a coat or two of varnish depending on the temp and humidity 😁
