Not nearly the amount of snow they’ve chatted about alllll week, but there’s this!!! ❄️❄️❤️❄️❄️❄️ Fortunately, we have plenty of snow as we regularly get snow that the forecasters never chat about but we sure would like one of those big storms …..before May, please! 😂

We have visiting puppy friends and the best way for a calm house is to run those puppies as much as possible, so we did!! And what a delightful day it was! We tried to get to Metallak Brook but the South Arm Road is only plowed to the boat launch. What a bunch of disappointed pups that caused! We headed back to our always favorite South Bog Stream with the intent of a nice long snowshoe but cut our tromp a little short because our pup friends were having trouble with snow in their paws. Once that starts, it’s an escalating problem so we just head back. We thought the snow should have been cold enough to not be a problem but even Reese had some trouble and that hardly ever happens. Lots of fun nevertheless and always great to get outside. Snoozy puppies for the rest of the day wasn’t bad either! 😊

Yes, we have snow…and still snowing. We’ve mentioned before that Rangeley often gets snow when it’s never been mentioned by forecasters…mountain flurries, we think it’s referred to! 😊❄️🩵 All we know is, we love it! (The shoveled off table top is the 3ish inches of snow from yesterday’s hoopla! 🥴) Rangeley, Maine 02.07.25

I don’t know… does this look like a “nasty” day to you? ☹️☹️☹️
Watching the morning weather and the temp in Rangeley (-3) was referred to as “nasty” several times! Ya’d think forecasters would know -3 isn’t necessarily “nasty” when A. it’s early morning, B. after a clear night (clouds give a little blanket…), and C. there’s no wind. Geez! -40 for a few days in a row ~ we can talk about that being “unfavorable”!
Rangeley depends on folks coming here for our outdoor recreation. Wish forecasters would understand how their info. affects our livelihoods. Talk of “no snow” (when we’ve got snow!), rain when it never happens, “cold” temps 🙄…. Anddd, as is often the case: No bad weather, just bad gear/clothing choice! 😊

Hope you can get here often to enjoy our unbearable weather….🤣 …be sure to dress appropriately!

4:45 p.m. sunset….seems like so much more daylight!!! Ahhh, the delights of late January.
Though January has had lots of unusual sunshine, it sure has been cold! As they say, “too cold to snow” 😕. Saddleback, with their snowmaking, top notch grooming, and all but daily little snows (1-3”), has kept their skiers and riders super happy with almost 100% of trails now open… The snowmobilers will now have some reassurance of frozen lakes and ponds with this extended cold period but sure could use some more snow!!! As we all know, it’ll come!!!

As if the bluebird day of skiing on great trail conditions wasn’t enough!!! Spoiled, very spoiled ☺️ here in the RLR of Maine! (….and we appreciate everrrry minute of it! ❤️)
