Terrified dog dies while trying to get away from fireworks • Pet Rescue Report

This kind of story is too true, I know someone's whose dog did this. PLEASE keep your pets inside throughout this week (at least, unless you live in county, then the next few weeks), with music or something to distract them. They can go through windows as well, but are less likely if they feel safe in the house.

Also, be careful while out driving at night, there will be animals running for their lives in fear.

A dog, terrified by the booming of fireworks, died after being impaled on a fence, while attempting to flee from the overwhelming sounds. A heartbreaking image of the deceased dog was posted to Facebook by the Barberton SPCA (in South Africa), along with harsh words for the people who set off firewo...

Kitchen Cabinet Remedies Your Pet Will Love

I don't know about you, but I much prefer home remedies to medicine. Not saying don't take your pet to the vet if it needs attention, but if you know your pet and the situation, these are helpful.

Your kitchen is a storehouse of therapeutic treasures that fight canine tummy troubles, phobias, a spritz for itchy skin, and more.

Allergist: Hypoallergenic dog breeds are a myth

True. I have a friend who's boyfriend is allergic, but it's the dander that causes grief. Thankfully, the dog they now have doesn't cause problems.

The online options are abundant: Breeders offer up a sniffle-free life to dog lovers allergic to dogs. So-called "hypoallergenic" dogs can go for thousands of dollars. But some allergists say it's all a myth.

100K dogs die each year from riding in truck beds

I'm almost positive it's illegal in TX, but I still see it sometimes, so maybe not. It definitely should be, not only or safety, but for pads burning on hot beds.

New Research Shows That Petting Dogs Is Like A Drug For Our Brains

I have noticed even the stuffed dogs in class help keep people calm. The funny thing is, the class isn't stressful, yet people will listen to me as they pet their "dog."

We’ve already talked about how dogs can help improve depression and your overall health, but new research is showing exactly how petting a dog affects our brains, and it’s just one more way that dogs make our lives better. Here’s how petting a dog impacts your brain, along with other ways dogs...

Beth

I get worked up every time I see a dog in the bed of a pickup. Pets aren't even safe inside the car, but an open bed! Not to mention it's often a 100 degree summer day. I seriously want to pull these people out of their trucks, make them sit their bare behinds on the bed for 5 minutes and see if they can still walk!!

PLEASE stop doing this!!

Dr. Peter Dobias - Natural Healing for Dogs

Dr. Peter Dobias - Natural Healing for Dogs

HERE IS WHY SOME DOGS BECOME HYPOTHYROID: The thyroid gland is located at the front portion of the throat, right in front of the Adam’s apple (anatomically the laryngeal cartilages) which makes it very prone to injuries by dog collars.

The harder the pressure of the collar on the thyroid gland and the stronger the dog, the greater risk of thyroid injury.

When the thyroid gland is injured inflammation follows, which triggers the immune system to produce antibodies to the inflamed tissue of the thyroid gland. These antibodies attack and the immune system removes thyroid gland cells which results in lack of production of thyroid hormone.
