The ducks and geese are tending to their nests.

Cousin Barbara keeps all the wildlife fat and happy in between our guests.

Mary makes sure the inside is clean as whistle and always ready for the next reservation.

And Gene keeps everything tidy outside and the place continues to look like a national park.

Having an AirBnB is a lot of work but rewarding when you attract guests from all over the United States and they just love what Richmond County, NC has to offer.

So you want to do some home renovations but worried about ending up in a financial blunder. As you can see the spread in the costs can be pretty substantial.

My 2 cents on this from the couple renovations that I have done is that you have total control of this.

For example, kitchen renovations can be astronomical but it's because of the variance in the cabinetry, hardware and the fixtures.

You simply need to establish some boundaries for your renovation and be honest with yourself about what your expectations and goal are.

Some have champagne tastes but only a beer budget.

Another very important piece to this is to think ahead about how long you plan to stay in your home. Do not over renovate your home compared to the comps that surround you.

You'll never be able to capitalize a decent return on your investment if you're the top dog in the neighborhood.
