Snorkeling with sea lions can be a once in a lifetime! The waters around La Paz offer some of the best snorkeling conditions in the world and are home to large sea lion colonies, who use the waters to rest and breed. Swimming with sea lions in the wild is unlike any other marine experience we’ve had, being in the water with such graceful and unique creatures – amazing!

Every year from early May through mid-June, hundreds of thousands of mobula rays migrate through the Sea of Cortez. The rays attract predators— orcas— which have become more or less resident in the region, as their diet consists largely of mobula rays and dolphins in Baja.

Each winter, hundreds of gray whales return to their traditional breeding and birthing grounds along the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Their 6,000-mile migration from Alaska's Bering Sea to these sheltered lagoons is the longest mammal migration on Earth. Friendly and engaging, they are often intrigued with humans, swimming right open boats. You might see mothers with their babies, breaching and spy-hopping, and you might observe mating behavior as well.
