July 22-23, 2024
Wildlife has been diverse, and we love sharing with our passengers all that the ocean has to offer. The past few days have included numerous ocean sunfish, a sprinkling of basking sharks, a GREAT WHITE shark(!), a couple of minke whales, scattered fin whales, a small pod of common dolphins, a LEATHERBACK sea turtle, and a handful of humpback whales including Entropy, Pinball, Satula, Spoon, and Quote. July 20-21, 2024
It seems as though the weather was finally on our side for an entire weekend. Marine life continues to be diverse with sightings of ocean sunfish, basking sharks, fin whales, humpback whales, Atlantic white-sided dolphins and TWO kinds of sea turtles - leatherback and loggerhead. What's even more mind-blowing is that the turtles were sighted during the same trip, an occurrence that has never happened before on the Granite State! We always say we never really know what we are going to see when we leave the harbor. We truly mean it. Thank you, wildlife. https://granitestatewhalewatch.blogspot.com/2024/07/july-20-21-2024.html

July 3-4
Lots of fin and humpback whales around lately! Wednesday morning we had a friendly humpback whale who decided to do some people watching! These close approaches as we were shut down are rare and incredible! We also saw a sleeping whale, a pair of fin whales and then a long-time friend, Crow, the fin whale! The afternoon brought more humpbacks and an awesome trio of speedy fin whales. Thursday morning we found a couple of solo fin whales and multiple humpback whales! Details can be found here https://granitestatewhalewatch.blogspot.com/2024/07/july-3-4-2024.html and stay tuned to hear about our Thursday afternoon trip!

Ocean conditions the past few days have only added to the incredible sights we have been fortunate to witness. We've spent time with humpback whales, fin whales (including a mother-calf pair!), Atlantic white-sided dolphins, basking sharks, an ocean sunfish and even a very rare sighting of a BLUE WHALE! Always in awe of all that wildlife is capable of. Read here for details regarding our trips: https://granitestatewhalewatch.blogspot.com/2024/07/july-1-2-2024.html

Happy Summer and apologies for the hiatus! Sometimes life throws in some twists and turns, and it can take time making lemonade from lemons. Many thanks to the hardworking crew for kicking it into overtime the past few weeks! Don't let the quietness be mistaken for lack of whales. The ocean has been TEEMING with life this month! Sightings of humpback whales, finback whales, Atlantic white-sided dolphins and basking sharks have been providing some incredible looks, and behaviors, on our trips.

May 25-26, 2024
The 2024 season has arrived! The salt air and cooler ocean temperatures reminded us of what we have been waiting for since last season. It seems like ages, and yet, just moments, since we were last out on our public trips. This weekend, we enjoyed seeing many familiar faces and newcomers wanting to share in the wild aspect of whale watching in the Jeffreys Ledge area.

Our trips provided a variety of marine life, and we look forward to the season ahead! Our next whale watches are next weekend, so stay tuned for updates. Until then, check out our fun finds! https://granitestatewhalewatch.blogspot.com/2024/05/may-25-26-2024.html

October 4 and 6, 2023
Wednesday, we had a trio of humpback whales including Owl, Clamp and Sword. They would split up for a bit and then come back together.
Friday, we battled the fog but got lucky with Clamp feeding in an area with no fog!! Amazing looks at surface feeding by Clamp, and then later by Satula! Victim was also seen briefly!
Check out details of our last two trips of the season!

September 30 - October 1, 2023
The last day of September was cloudy, a little brisk, breezy and rocky out on the water. We spent our time watching humpback whale Victim, steadily on the move. While we may have been feeling the motion of the ocean, whales certainly can slip through the water so gracefully. Such beautiful creatures.

On Sunday, the winds had subsided, but the ocean was still holding a good amount of energy through the swells offshore. Victim was seen again, but she was back alongside Partition, a pair that's been seen regularly together over the past week. We also got a chance to spend time with two other humpback whales: Owl and Chromosome.

We are into our final week of the 2023 season. Fingers crossed for good weather so we can enjoy these wild animals on all our scheduled trips!

Happy Fall all! While the seasons have begun to change, whales continue to keep us on our toes. Some days, numerous sightings on the horizon. Other days, plenty of searching. Today we sighted some incredible sights. Kudos to all our passengers who came prepared for cooler temperatures and rain showers (we had both!). Trip details here: https://granitestatewhalewatch.blogspot.com/2023/09/september-23-2023.html

The wind forecast for tomorrow will be keeping us on land so stay tuned next week when we are back out on the water!
