Some previous guests, that have travelled MSC ships in the past, may be hesitant to try it again. MSC in the past was polarizing, as you either loved it or hated it. However, a lot has changed from the MSC of old. MSC is a cruise line based in Switzerland, not Italy, as many thought and is now the 3rd largest cruise line in the world. They have some 300 years, yes, 300 years of maritime heritage. Though, many of their 23, soon to be 24 ships sail from European, Mediterranean, or Asian ports, they now have 7 ships sailing from US home ports. They have one the newest, and largest fleet of modern cruise vessels of any cruise line.
If you have sailed on one of their US based ships in the past, you may have remembered hearing announcements made in about 7 languages. Being forced to eat a pasta course with every dinner. The overwhelming presence of "dance classes" on the pool deck, with very few other deck activities offered. And perhaps being on an older, smaller "muscial" named ship, that left you underwhelmed. Those are now concentrating on the Mediterranean and other far away ports, and the newer, bigger ships are here sailing from the USA. With the grandest of them all, the MSC World America, just now setting sail.
The MSC World America, MSC's newest mega-ship, is a different world of MSC cruising, altogether. This ship is "Americanized" to the way that most of us are become accustomed to sailing. Plenty of complimentary dining, and host of alternative dining options, totaling 19 different dining venues, that are sure to suit even the most particular palate. Deck and pool activities offering the adventurous Cliff Hangar, a swing that hangs off the side of the ship hundreds of feet above the sea below; The Jaws Drop, an 11 story dry slide that takes from The Harbor down 11 decks to the heart of the World Promenade; A high trail ropes course, for those truly adventurous; The Aqua park, with waterslides and splash pools to rival the best land waterparks; The MSC Sportsplex, offering indoor sports play as well as bumper car rides. If you want to relax, there is plenty of that too, with the 20 pools and whirlpools through the ship, offering a different view from each, including the adults only pool area, the Zen Area. The state-of-the-art Aurea Spa offering massages and an expansive Thermal Suite. There are 7 distinctive districts, to explore and experience: Family Adventura, The Aqua Deck, World Promenade, World Galleria, The Terraces, The Zen Area, and the exclusive Yacht Club.
I can assure you, that MSC World America is far elevated from what MSC has ever offered prior. So, if you were one that loved it, you will be gobsmacked with what is offered on this new ship. If you didn't care for it in the past, I'd bet you will be impressed with this new version of MSC cruising.
