Monterey Zoo gave to me Two Playful Ferrets, and an Eagle Owl in a tall tree. 🎄
Is there anything more fun than presenting anyone a puppy in front of 300 people???
A VERY special thank-you to Danette Smith who helped get a puppy to Salinas from Hawaii and keep it a secret for two weeks!

Thanku so much to the many who have contacted us regarding the storms, flooding, river rising, road closure and recent stay-at-home order to our surrounding community today. Please know it is currently a bright 🌞 sunny day here and our animals are very well. We have staff living on the property to care for them and the necessary emergency equip standing by should the need for such arise.
We are dealing with a tremendous amount of water coming from the hills above us and through our property but it has had no impact on the animals while we continue to battle that damage as it occurs.
Our future concern will once again be the tremendous negative financial impact such events have on a zoo for once again, our means of support is completely cut off while our overhead remains the same in order to provide the animals with the quality of care they need and deserve. We can only hope and pray 🙏 for the weather to clear and you to visit the animals again soon.

A very LONG awaited and exciting newcomer to the Monterey Zoo family and for those who truly know me, you know what this little fella means to me. A Black Dragon (Melanistic Asian Water Monitor.)
He’s a specially bred/hatched and started baby of my friend Kevin at New England Reptile, that I was able to get through my friend Jon at Jon’s Jungle in Southern California. Both these individuals are champions to the responsible reptile hobby and professional zoological industry alike.
We’re considering names but “DJango” is scoring real high with those who meet him... it’s hard to believe in just several years, he will grow to over six foot and over 100 pounds. And with the very dedicated attention and love he’ll receive, he’ll be as friendly and dedicated as any pet can be. ❤️🦎
