As the sun sets in Vietnam, it is time to say goodbye. It was a most enlightening experience. I have much better understanding of the Vietnam war. Despite everything the U.S did, the people were very gracious and warm and always smiling. The food was excellent as were our accommodations and our guides.

On to Ha Long Bay for a fabulous cruise on our own boat with an amazing Vietnamese lunch. We visited a very impressive cave as well. Such a great day!

We learned how they “make” pearls. First they mix some kind of compound (this wasn’t really clear 😏), then they insert a starter pearl in the oyster and one to five years later, voila, a pearl! They come in different colors and grades. Of course, I bought one!

Rice, puffed and candied, plus rice made into “paper” for spring tools and some snake moonshine. We were allowed to sample the rice in all forms but no alcohol for us - darn!

Once the train passes by…

Today was my favorite day so far. We started out at a railway market which used to be just for locals but now, thanks to social media also has tons of tourists (never mind that I am also a tourist!). The train comes through three times each day, and each time the vendors have to roll up their awnings and move items for sale back behind the red line so the train does not demolish them. Once the train goes through, they roll the awnings back out and move the items back to their original place.

Meet Stacy

Take a Hike – A Travel Agency was created 25 years ago after having worked at another agency for over ten years. I was confident I could better serve my clients under my own “roof”. I think I have accomplished that, as much of my new business is referrals from existing clients.

I have a keen interest in discovering new places, and I live to travel. I love to help other people discover new places, too, and nothing is more rewarding for me than to hear clients tell me what a great trip they had!

Things change very quickly in the travel industry, and it is my job to help you stay abreast of the current specials, new airline procedures, travel restrictions and destination requirements.

I hold myself to a high standard as far as work ethics, and though I do charge a service for airline tickets only, I think you will find it is worth the additional charge.
