My Mom turned 92 yesterday. What a life lived loved. And we still have her! I'm sharing where I get my entrepreneurial spirit. She was a Million Dollar Saleswoman when homes in Chicago were $20k each. I LOVE her resume. Fifty years ago women noted their entire home life on the resume. Possibly men as well but I just have Mom's as an example. I love her confidence and her desire for advancement. I was what people called a latchkey kid, coming home after school to my dogs because my Mom and Dad were both working. She taught me independence, resourcefulness, generosity and a focus on achieving what you put your mind to in life. She's also just about as funny as my Dad but she didn't get much credit til he passed. Just this week my sister Melanie Mirek Ostermeier shared a story about visiting the neurologist: When asked by her neurologist as he held up a pen, “What is this?” Mom replied, “A pen.” Then he touched his watch and asked her, “ What is this?” Mom said patiently, “That’s a wristwatch, but if you have to ask me about those things maybe you should be in memory care.” I'm grateful every day to have her.
