GG Connections Designer-Debbie Nghiem is known for her avan
t garde and fusion of styles in her design. She was born in Saigon, Vietnam & studied Business Finance at San Jose State University. Prior to design and fashion, she has worked as a worldwide purchasing/logistic planner, marketing, contract negotiations, and manufacturing in several high tech companies including JDSU, Schlumberger/LTX , Network PCB and received several awards. In 2008-2009, she involved in business fashion as an exclusive account representative in Vietnam for Sourcing Magic. This experience helped her to learn more about the fashion industry and to pursue her new career. Debbie's passion also lies in charity works &loves promoting young generation, talented artists&building a Modeling Agency for Young Ladies in the U.S and especially for the Vietnamese-American community. She has helping the less fortunate, and creating opportunities to bring together the Vietnamese people through social and professional events to promote a supportive network of associates, friends, and resources. She also has been a key contributor in charity organizations such as Vietnamese American Professionals Alliance (VAPA), Aid to Children without Parents (ACWP), Asian Pacific in San Francisco, Mid Autumn Festival (MAF), VNhelp, Vietnamese Silicon Valley Network and now it calls Vietnamese Strategic Venture Network(VSVN), Friends of Hue, C & Y Club, and was the founder and Vice President of United Vietnamese Americans then later she became the President of this organization. In 2007, one of her big project was the VietModelProject. Run Way Nguoi Mau in the U.S www.vietmodelproject.com. After her involvement with VMP, she was invited by Calitoday to do a fashion show for this event. Unexpectedly this event lead her to explore a whole new area of career & business as a fashion designer . Her desire to incorporate Vietnamese Americans Fashion and Modeling into the public eyes
She has gone from not designing any dresses in 2007, today she even makes the dresses by herself and also she has help putting on over 50 fashion shows with her designs in less than three years.She has done many organizing Big Fashion shows & Entertainment for events such as Premier movies-Passport for Love, Fool for Love, Dust of Life, Be that Rio Fashion Show for Celebrities,BET Entertainment 106 Park & UGMX, Friends of Hue Foundation, TN Entertainment, Cali today, Tet Festival,
She has also collaboration in many Big Fashion Shows such as GXBA Runway of the World,Ronnie Sample McDaniel&Xstudio , U.S Women Expo for Ready to Model Magazine, American Redcross with San Jose Fashion Week, Chance Network Seattle San Francisco , Black History, Supper Chic,Legacy Through Living, World Journal, Party Program, and many other events. Currently, she is an entrepreneur for a few other projects such as Oil/Energy Company Providence Energy Group and Music/Movie for Northern Five Entertainment. Additionally she has an email list arsenal that helps her and other organizations promote their events. As of result, she ended up helping her friend building portal for social networks and ecommerce. One of the social network she suggested with her former employee is Viet Models (www.models.myanh2.com)for all Viet Models. She also helped another company yippeeo to build her website portal network -ggconnections.com, That is where you can find most of her designs and upcoming events in the Bay Area and U.S. She plans to launch her clothing line in 2011. About her community activist- From 2003-2007 she created a non-profit organization callUnited Vietnamese Americans(UVA) www.uvaus.com that formed strong relationships with many organizations in the Bay Area. UVA helped out with many activities such as raising money for disaster relieves and forming a scholarship bank. UVA has given out a total of $50K in 3 years for high school and college students in both California and Vietnam. With the support and unity of the community, UVA was able to raise $150K in SEVEN DAYS to help the stranded people in Houston during the Katrina disaster. Without her fun party throughout the year for the young professional, she would not have been able to provide $30-$35K for the orphanages in Vietnam. She has also coordinated seminars, workshops, and children moon festivals for over 100K people in the Bay Area. Her major belief is "Unity", which are the reasons why her organization is has been supporting other fundraisers in the community for many years and continues to strive for the goal of a betterment in the community
