Allow us to reintroduce you to our Conference Coordinators, Arav and Sean!
Third Year Conference Coordinator
Arav was drawn to civil engineering after taking a civil-focused course in high school that sparked his interest. As Conference Coordinator, he helps organize Cal Poly’s annual trip to the Pacific Southwest Symposium (PSWS), which includes booking travel and lodging, coordinating team sign-ups, and ensuring everything is set for a successful competition.
He has been a member of SCE since his first year, but this is his first time serving as an officer. He was particularly drawn to this role because of the collaborative nature of the position and the chance to contribute to a major event. His favorite part of SCE is the strong sense of community it fosters within the civil engineering department. Outside of SCE, Arav is active in Engineering Ambassadors and volunteers with Concrete Canoe. In his free time, he enjoys sports, listening to music, and going for drives. Over the summer, he interned at Mark Thomas, completed a Cal Poly summer class, and visited Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Sean is a third-year and serves as the PSWS Coordinating Officer for SCE. His interest in civil engineering began with his involvement in Polybridge. In his officer role, Sean, alongside his co-officer Arav, works to coordinate and deliver an unforgettable PSWS (Pacific Southwest Symposium) experience. This is Sean’s third year with SCE, though it is his first year as an officer. Previously, he was involved with the events committee. His inspiration to take on the PSWS coordinating role came from observing the leadership and success of Nick G. and Ryan B. in the same role last year. Sean’s favorite part about SCE is the free food, though he also appreciates the professional and social opportunities the club provides. Outside of SCE, he’s involved with the Steel Bridge team and the Climbing Club. Sean is particularly excited for PSWS this year. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and eating. Over the summer, he interned full-time at GSE Construction and spent his free time playing Minecraft.
Thanks again for all your hard work planning PSWS arrangements for our chapter!
