Today 2/23/2URGENT!🚨 🧊
Today is the day ice started the knock and ask program As promised, ice has started that! This morning.
Got a call from a family on the Westside, ICE was there. This is a family who was getting help at casa.

The US citizen refused to open the door and asked to see the warrant. They used a battery ram and broke the door. Slammed the us citizen on the floor and handcuffed him. Took the brother and left.

No warrant was ever shown

Title: Remembering Danny Jimenez, Patriarch of

Santa Barbara has lost a legend. Danny Jimenez, the heart and soul behind Lito’s Mexican Restaurant, has passed away at 92, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Danny’s journey began as a gardener in Santa Barbara, but through hard work and determination, he built Lito’s into a beloved institution. His dedication to family, community, and great food lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the countless customers who have made Lito’s a part of their lives.

A longtime staple of the local food scene, Lito’s is known for its traditional recipes and bustling grab-and-go lunch service and closed by 3pm. Its famous meats and pozole even caught the attention of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network.

Danny’s impact will be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace.

Side note: litos has been a staple to staff for breakfast burritos for decades!

The picture shown of Danny next to his mural at Litos. Photo taken by yours truly in 2016.

My condolences to the Jimenez family 🙏🏾

Heavenly birthday, Matriarch Maria Teresa Garcia 🕊️🙏🏾 (1945-2025)

Maria Teresa Garcia was born in Mexico on February 13, 1945. At just six months old, she migrated to Santa Barbara with her family. Before that journey, she was miraculously revived by a Curandera using an egg, blessings and todo.

As a child, her parents frequently moved the family between Santa Barbara and the San Fernando Valley. She was also a devoted member of Ritchie Valens' fan club, which was run by his mother.

Maria studied fashion and had a deep love for literature. She absolutely adored reggae and Brenton Wood.

In 1965, she married Harold Victor Garcia of Carpinteria at Guadalupe Church, and together they raised three strong and beautiful children: Andi, Victor, and Fina.

She dedicated many years of her life working as an interpreter at the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office.

Maria was revered as a keeper of family history, always sharing knowledge and stories about their heritage.

She was part of the Garcia, Escobar, Silva, Gomez, and Cardona families.

Maria also had a great love for reading of Carpinteria.

Rest in peace, Maria. Your wisdom, warmth, and legacy will live on through your children, grandchildren, friends and family. 🙏🏾

A celebration of life will be happening soon.

Title: Santa Barbara would be dysfunctional and ugly without Mexicans

"Despite our ridiculously hypocritical attitudes towards immigration, we demand that Mexicans cook a large percentage of the food we eat, grow the ingredients we need to make that food, clean our houses, mow our lawns, wash our dishes, look after our children. As any chef will tell you, our entire service economy the restaurant business as we know it - in most American cities, would collapse overnight without Mexican workers. Some, of course, like to claim that Mexicans are 'stealing American jobs.' But in two decades as a chef and employer, I never had ONE American kid walk in my door and apply for a dishwashing job, a porter's position - or even a job as prep cook. Mexicans do much of the work in this country that Americans, probably, simply won't do."

"Juan was the life of the party with an infectious laugh and smile. He loved to go fishing, and he loved to BBQ. He always made everyone laugh, and all the kids loved him as he was like a little kid.

Many have asked how to help support the Rios family through this difficult time. Your support can make a meaningful difference in easing the financial burden on the family through this difficult time.

Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated by Roberto, Estela, Robert, and Francisco
